pam Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Though probably the majority of the posters on this site have NO idea who this is..I remember it very well. She was once a member of the Manson family and has spent the last 34 years in prison for pointing a gun at Gerald Ford who was then President. After 34 years, Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme to be released - CNN.com Quote
EruditioSalvatus Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Wow, I never thought I'd see this is my lifetime. To think, 34 years for pointing an empty gun at someone... Wonder if Charlie will ever get out Quote
BenRaines Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Manson will never get out. Ben Raines Quote
pam Posted August 6, 2009 Author Report Posted August 6, 2009 I seriously doubt any of those involved in the Tate/LaBianca murders will see freedom again. Quote
hordak Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 I don't think he wants out. I have seen one of his parole hearings were he was asked what he would do when he got out. He wants to fly with the angels in LA, after all it is the city of angels. Quote
beefche Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 I thought some of his followers had been released. Am I making that up? Quote
pam Posted August 6, 2009 Author Report Posted August 6, 2009 None of the ones charged and convicted in the Tate/LaBianca murders have been released. Linda Kasabian was charged but became the prosecutions star witness as she is the only one that didn't actually kill anyone. But the rest..Charles Manson, Charles "Tex" Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten are all still in prison. Quote
bytor2112 Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Speaking of "Tex" Watson....here is his prison ministry website. Quote
pam Posted August 6, 2009 Author Report Posted August 6, 2009 I had heard he had started a ministry. I didn't realize that they had internet access in prison. Quote
beefche Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Oh yeah, Pam. There is a website you can sign up to be a pen pal with death row inmates. I saw some report on how one of the women who did that ended up marrying the guy. Quote

pam Posted August 6, 2009 Author Report Posted August 6, 2009 The whole thing with the Manson family etc has always fascinated me. I've read so many things..read the book Helter Skelter. It's just amazing how one person can control so many. Of course drugs were a huge part of it. But Manson was good at what he did. He found the most vulnerable part of a persons psyche and played on that. Quote

I write the contents for the web site, except for the testimonies of friends, articles identified as being written by others, or quotes attributed to others. Quote
Carl62 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 · Hidden Hidden But the rest..Charles Manson, Charles "Tex" Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten are all still in prison.Susan Atkins died about a year ago. The rest are still in though.
pam Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 She hasn't died yet. Atkins is reportedly now paralyzed over 85 percent of her body, unable to sit up or be transferred to a wheelchair, according to a Web site maintained by her husband. Her next parole hearing is scheduled for September 2, 2009. Quote
Carl62 Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 She hasn't died yet. You're right Pam! I just did a quick search and yes Susan Atkins is still alive. I don't know where I got that from, but I really thought she had died. My bad. Quote
pam Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 I know at one time it was reported that she only had 6 months to live. But she has outlived that. I wonder if her parole might actually be approved this time based on her condition. Quote

Seanette Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 IF any of the Mansonoids should ever be released, Squeaky would not be a prime candidate. She's one of the two who's never repudiated Manson (the other being Sandra Good), assaulted another inmate in prison, and escaped on one occasion. Looking at it from the POV of who's an ongoing threat, I'd have to say that as brutal as Susan Atkins' actions were in 1969, she's at this point apparently incapable of harming anyone else (assuming reports of her medical condition to be accurate), behaved herself in prison, and has renounced Manson's "philosophy", so I'd be less uneasy about her being paroled, since she has shown evidence of repentance, which Squeaky has not. Side note: my mother claims to have met some of the Manson Family pre-Tate/LaBianca. She says Charlie didn't impress her much, but some of the girls were pretty scary. Quote
EruditioSalvatus Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 It's just amazing how one person can control so many. Not really, look at most religions started or maintained by one person. Charismatic or persuasive leaders can amass thousands and send those thousands on holy wars, pilgrimages, and everything else. Quote

Carl62 Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 Does anybody know how she got the nickname "Squeaky"? Quote
pam Posted August 15, 2009 Author Report Posted August 15, 2009 When the family moved onto the Spahn ranch, Charlie assigned Lyn to the job of caring for 80-year-old, George Spahn who was blind and also the caretaker of the property. Lyn's name eventually changed to "Squeaky" because of the sound she would make when George Spahn would run his fingers up her legs. There ya have it. Quote
pam Posted August 15, 2009 Author Report Posted August 15, 2009 I could have added more but..then I'd have to move it to open forum. Quote
