mlbrowninwa Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 This past weekend, my wife completed the Portland marathon. She even did it with a very sore knee and has been in recovery phase for the first half of this week. She is an inspiration to me. She worked for over five months to get ready for that. I am going to start training with her and will take part in the half marathon this January with her. We have been looking for more things to do together. Not sure if this is what I had in mind though. I was amazed at the times some of the experienced runners turned in. It turned out to be quit exciting. Quote
BenRaines Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Awesome. On Friday my wife took her exam and is now a Certified Personal Trainer. It is a grueling exam and requires a lot of knowledge regarding the body, muscles and nutrition. Ben Raines Quote
Guest Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 It would be great to run a marathon! Matter of fact, it would be great if I can just run the 3K. For some reason though, I just can't last through a mile anymore. My brain starts telling myself, "You're tired, you're achy, you need to stop now" and after a few feet of this, I just end up walking the rest of the way. I truly admire the strength and determination of runners. Congratulations to your wife! Quote
Traveler Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 My wife has never run a marathon – but she has delivered 5 children. Well since the doctor was late I guess we can say that I delivered one with her. I would like to think that giving birth is a greater achievement that running a marathon – but that is just me and my opinion. She does not like to run but she does accompany me once a week on a 30 mile bicycle ride. She just started ridding this last year – not bad for an empty nester first year rider mom.Congrats to all that get out and exercise. This country has too many couch potatoes. The Traveler Quote

Bini Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 mlbrowninwa, that is awesome! Congrats to your wife for her achievement! Not everyone can run a marathon and finish :] Quote
ploomf Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 That's so cool. I'm starting to run more to try and get into shape. I can barely run half a block without wishing I could collapse and die so I really admire anyone who can run an entire marathon. Quote
