Moksha Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 They haven't had a Democrat in this District since the time of the Mormon Pioneers, yet they elected one anyway. It had been a sure election and calling for Republicans, but that was before the Conservatives took on the Republicans and left them to become Democrats. The Conservatives decided the Republican candidate did not smell conservative enough, so they ran their own candidate and brought the big name hired guns like Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich to town. Trying to bring purity to Conservative Party doctrine and people. The Conservative candidate looked pleasant enough. Sort of like my Gospel Doctrine teacher. Trouble was he did not live in the district and had no knowledge of the issues of the district. Even in an interview with Glen Beck he said he had been roped into running.Conservative v. Republican Candidate picturesAnyway, it seems apparent that moderates have really no place in the new Conservative Party formerly known as Republican. Quote
sixpacktr Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Umm....Newt backed the demo.., uh, repub candidate. Not Hoffman. And frankly, we all can see what happens when repubs embrace the 'big tent' with gay marriage, abortion, big govt'. They get their tails kicked. Scuzzy should have never been a repub. Not even here in NY. and the great thing is that Hoffman was a NOBODY 6 weeks ago, and lost by only 3 percentage points. All moderates can just go join the dems. Please. Quit mucking up the message. If not, then a third party based upon the ideals and principles of the tea party movement is coming and will replace the 'repubs'. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Watcha talkin 'bout, Moksha? Last I heard, Newt had endorsed Scozzafava. Quote
talisyn Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Sure, the Democrats will take in the suddenly homeless moderate Republicans. At least until they get their home back. No one can do a bbq or pumpkin pie like a good Republican Quote
Moksha Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 No one can do a bbq or pumpkin pie like a good Republican Or home canning and 72-hour Emergency Preparedness. What? Okay, ixnay on the former mainstream Republicans and the 72-hour stuff. How about having the largest weapons collections? What? Okay, I am sure there are other things. What about Boston Creme Pies? What? Never mind, I will leave this to Talisyn. Quote
talisyn Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 I think Dems have the Boston cream pies, Moksha. I will grant that the Reps seem to have emergency preparedness down, but I think it's because Dems are pretty lazy about practical matters like that. Large weapons collections in Idaho are pretty evenly split, per capita. My gramma's a union Dem and has over 100 guns Quote
Moksha Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 Watcha talkin 'bout, Moksha?Last I heard, Newt had endorsed Scozzafava. You are right. The news report said, Scozzafava was the choice of Chairman Michael Steele and Newt Gingrich. Hey, where did Mitt Romney stand on this Conservative Party take over? BTW, what's with this Chairman Steele title when Rush is calling the shots? Doug Hoffman had Rush Limbaugh's support.Doug Hoffman called Glen Beck his mentor. Quote
bytor2112 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 (edited) Anyway, it seems apparent that moderates have really no place in the new Conservative Party formerly known as Republican.Moderate is code for no principles. They should just be or vote Democrat. All I can say is Virginia and New Jersey!!! Obama couldn't get them singing yes we can quite enough, huh? Edited November 5, 2009 by bytor2112 Quote

I dont think moderates have ever had a place within the ranks of republicans; its either their way, {repubs} or the highway; period. Quote
talisyn Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 To be completely truthful moderate Dems don't seem to have much of a place in the Democratic party either. Maybe the mods in both parties could combine into a new party and overthrow the radicals on both sides? Quote
