shausladen Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 I poke around a little bit with Facebook, mainly to communicate with close and extended family, and to look up old friends. I saw this site and decided to see what it offers. I have been a member of the LDS Church since 1976 when I was 22 years old. My brother became a member 10 months earlier and his example lead to my investigation and conversion. He baptized me and the blessings started to come immediately. A week later I was at a church dance and met the girl that became my wife a year later, and is still my eternal companion. I would especially enjoy communicating with those who are investigating the church and would like to talk with someone who has had many conversion and testimony-building experiences. I can especially share some insight into how its been to be one of two members of the church in a beautiful, close family. 1 Nephi 3:7 Steve Quote

Maya Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Hi Steve what a wonderful intro. Feel welcome! So officially: Welcome to LDS.net. You will find here an ecclectic mix of LDS and some non-members. While the site is dedicated to the Gospel, and to promoting the Church to a world that often does not understand us, we also make room for conversations about current events, and about social and cultural practices within the Church. If your main desire is to learn about the Church, consider starting with the "Learn About Mormonism" forums. For more advanced teachings, that will often include a variety of perspectives, some non-LDS, consider the Gospel section of forums. While you are welcome to all main sections, be aware this site makes room for a variety of opinions and personalities. Some posters can be passionate about their views, and occasionally more so about them than about the souls of visitors. If you find something particularly offensive, feel free to make a report by clicking the appropriate tab. Quote
Guest mormonmusic Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Great that you have a family member in the Church! Welcome to this site. It's a good place to be :) Quote
rren Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Steve, welcome. You mentioned you'd like to hear from people who have had many conversion and testimony building experiences. I am a convert from the Catholic church and I came into the LDS Church with a very powerful experience with the Book of Mormon. You can hear my story here: Ryan Quote
