My ex could be on that show, along with his mom as they were evicted by the health department because of unsanitary living conditions. It's a major reason why he's my ex, as he refused to do anything about it, and I found that trying to clean the mess myself was a bad idea because he got so angry, it was scary. Some of the relatives on that show have found that out as well, that they really can't go in there and clean even though they really wanted to. I'm sure my ex thinks I made that call to the health department, but it's more likely that his neighbors made the complaint as they constantly complained about the back yard having trash and dog poop in it since he never cleaned up after his dogs.

My dad is the opposite, and once he threw out a brand new carton of orange juice because he didn't bother to look at the expiration date. On Christmas a few years ago, I had just sprayed a disposable pan for au gratin potatoes, and when I went to use the bathroom, I came back and found that he threw that pan in the trash outside. He gets it from my grandma as she's much worse, to the point where my brother and I were uncomfortable as children in her house. She double bags the kitchen trash, and even washes paper plates with soap and water before throwing them away. She also washes regular dishes in the sink, then puts them in the dishwasher.

I laughed because I do jump up and start cleaning my house. But I too hope I have not offended anyone. I guess this problem hits too close to home. My mother and my mother-n-law both have hoarding tendencies. My hubby and I have discuss this matter before. We know it is suppose to run in families. Books are my weakness. I hate to get rid of them :0(

I was watching it during the middle of the night. I'm always shocked and amazed.

But for those that watch it, are you like me and find yourself getting up and sweeping the floor, or clearing off a counter, or loading the dishwasher out of reflex?

Wow

My neighbor is a hoarder. Horrible way to live.

The saddest one I've seen is when the young couple had thier two young kids taken away because a delivery person reported them to child protection and they came with law enforcement and took them. The show never said if they were able to get them back. If this is a condition that a person has no control over that is so sad that the courts would break up the entire family and not pursue and/or provide some sort of resources or help before snatching the kids like that. I can't imagine the pain and horror the parents AND kids went through and may still be. I prayed asking Heavenly Father to bless that family. I don't know what more I can do.
