EXCERPT: Adult obesity rates increased in 28 states in the past year, with the No. 1 ranking going to Mississippi, where 33.8% of adults are obese, according to a new report, “F as in Fat: How Obesity Threatens America’s Future 2010.”

Other major findings in the report:

  • The number of states where obesity rates exceed 30% has doubled in the past year, from four to eight -- Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
  • 19.1% of people in Colorado are obese, the lowest rate of any state.
  • The number of adults who report they do not engage in any physical activity rose in 12 states in the past year.
  • Adult obesity rates for African-Americans and Latinos are higher than obesity rates for whites in at least 40 states and the District of Columbia.

This is just a suggestion. Peter J. D´Adamo wrote a book about eating after your bloodtype. I started reading it and from first page i've been crazy about that book! It has opened my eyes to alot of things about how different our bodies really are. Im not even through with reading it, and i think its probably one of my favorites now, hehe. Thought it would interest some of you. :)

Enjoyed reading through the thread and everyone's posts. Up till the point of having baby #1 I was always very thin athletic built who never worried a day about my weight. From baby #1 on it was like going up a down escalator!

I would like to add that there are a number of medical conditions as well that can hinder your ability to lose weight easily if at all. Such would be diabetes (already mentioned), hypothyroidism, anemia (causes bad fatigue!), sleep apnea, as well as mental illnesses such as depression. There are others of course but these particular ones come to mind with me.

No matter what your weight be confident in yourself and love yourself. Yes it's not fun at all having extra weight but the better you feel about yourself the easier it will be to deal with it. You are beautiful no matter what your weight is. I find that when I am not physically satisfied with my body it does effect me mentally. Especially because I always had a nice body so I know what it's like to look physically appealing. My weight issues more have to do with diagnosed medical conditions rather than my eating habits. But I have seen success!

I opted to go to a homeopathic doctor for my conditions. All those years of never losing weight and I get on course with her and drop a large amount of pounds since Jan. I'm like a referral box for her LOL! She treats you not following the typical protocol but instead spends time understanding how you are feeling and running tests. Just losing that weight gives you the optimism you needed to continue forward.

It is one thing to learn better eating habits, but when you have a medical condition which is causing you to not drop weight and even worse gain wait it's enough to make you not have any hope. What's worse is when you are diagnosed and think finally you are going to see change but instead you see nothing. You end up not receiving the right treatment course and this only discourages you further. If you do have a medical condition continue to seek a doctor who can treat you correctly. It can make a world of a difference.

During the beginning of my weight loss I did something very drastic and that was a raw food diet. I did it for about 3 weeks and lost the bulk of the weight during that time (I've still kept it off!). It was the BEST thing I ever did. I felt so amazing full of energy. My skin cleared up and I felt mentally clear as well. Unfortunately it is very hard to stick with because I do enjoy meat and fish. So maybe even a 75% raw is good considering it would fall in line somewhat with the WoW:D
