WASHINGTON, June 21 (Reuters) - U.S. health insurers are raising prices by an average of 20 percent for working age adults who buy their own policies, according to a survey released by a nonprofit healthcare group on Monday.

Is anyone surprised? It only makes sense- mandate certain items for medical insurance plans, and costs go up.

Interesting premise, Marshac, but it doesn't explain why insurance rates have been rising (leaping in some cases) long before healthcare reform was more than a glimmer in Ted Kennedy's eyes.

Kind've like there's a link...healthcare costs rise...then more people want healthcare reform...almost scary

I didn't say it was the sole cause of the increases, merely part of them for this upcoming year- on this point, the insurance companies themselves have said as much. For employers' costs, I came across some numbers estimating how much if the increases was due to the ability to keep children on plans longer, and the removal of the lifetime spending cap. Insurance companies don't give away increased benefits for free.

Didn't the all knowing one...aka...President Obama and the Democratic Congress who knew what's best for us and therefor rammed the massive tax bill, I mean healthcare bill down our proverbial throats amd thus solved all of our health care woes????? Haven't the masses of uninsured that were allegedly dying by the thousands miraculously been cured???
