prisonchaplain Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 This is clearly not LDS, and yet the theme is one LDS would embrace--faith without righteousness is dead...worse, it is an abomination. This is great balance to the misunderstanding of the faith alone doctrine--the lie that we can just keep on sinning because God will keep on forgiving. "Test not the Lord your God," scripture warns. Good teaching here. Quote
Hemidakota Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 I'm just glad He is merciful for us. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted July 19, 2010 Report Posted July 19, 2010 Glen Beck was discussing some particular politician or political action he did not like, related it to the fundamentalist doctrine of eternal hellfire, and quipped that his religion did not teach it, but at times like this a part of him wished it were true! I was more struck by the description of Christ's suffering for our forgiveness than by the threat of hellfire. As President Hinckley said, sometimes you have to take to good and the true that others bring... I suppose the implication is that we learn to let that which is not helpful pass by like water under a bridge, being careful not to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Quote
