I think maybe you are referring to the woman (symbolism) represented as a harlot (I can only recall two women mentioned in Revelation):

"And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. (Revelation 17:5-6)."

Chapter 18 can tell us more about "her":

"And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

"For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. " (18:3)

The woman is the Church which went into apostasy.

Any thought of equating this woman with the desire for wealth, as in:

"And the desire for wealth which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

"For all nations have drunk of the desire for wealth, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with that desire, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. "
