I am hoping somebody knows something I can't find.

I need a venue for a wedding which will allow us to do the food. Ogden area prefferable. My daughter doesn't want it at the church (strong emotions there).

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Is not wanting it at a Church apply to a particular one, or all Churches in general?

Probably doesn't want to have a cheesy reception in the cultural hall.

Apple, does she have a photographer yet?

Not really. But the friend of a friend (photography student) might be able to do the pictures.

I have an acquaintance who is SLC-ish based, who is an amazing photographer. I don't know what the budget is. She's pretty pricey, but fantastic. Her wedding packages start at $1750. Elizabeth Taylor Frandsen Photography

For my wedding, we had a friend of a friend do our photos, and I pretty much hate all of them. Part of that is because I let a friend of my mom's do my makeup (to be fair, she was a licensed cosmetologist, not just "a friend"), which looked awful, but if I could go back and change anything, I'd hire a real photographer.

Wingnut, I agree. That is the one thing I regret the most about our wedding 34 years ago. The photographer was a mess. We ended up with twenty 4X5 prints and six 8X10s. My daughter has found a photographer she likes and since its a new business it isn't going to cost a lot.

There isn't much budget for this whole wedding which is why we're doing the food and decorations. I was going to make her dress but I don't have time, but fortunately she found one she loves. I am making the veil though. I'll be making most of the decorations too. My youngest sister has done catering and cakes. She will be making the cake and has been helpful with ideas. My middle sister just got married in July so she's been helpful with some suggestions and pricing.

As for the venue: I think we finally convinced her to have all the festivities in our backyard/house. Its mostly going to be dinner for family. :) I know that we can do a lot with back drops and lights to make it look special. I have a large kitchen which will accommodate several people working together. We have 5 weeks to get the house ready (paint, finish the doors my husband just installed, etc), then decorate with flowers.

Thank you everyone for you help and suggestions. If anyone has ideas for decorating please post.

Again, Thank You!!
