Rapidmc Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 I was baptised about sixteen years ago and never really stuck around. The last person I talked to from church was a Bishop about ten years ago. I was wondering if the church has a record of me, and if there is a way I can check my standing in the church? Quote
okforall Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Use the meetinghouse locator at lds.org to find out the ward you would be assigned to. You can go see that Bishop and he can request your records from Church Headquarters. He would just need a few small items of information to obtain it. Quote
Wingnut Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Find the ward clerk in your local ward. Give him your name and date of birth and he should be able to hunt you down. Quote

Or did you mean something else? Quote
slamjet Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 If you were baptized AND confirmed later in live (9 years and older) your records stay active. If you were baptized and NOT confirmed, your records are removed and have no records, if records were made at all. If you were blessed as a child and not baptized at 8 years, your records are removed at age 9 and you have no records. Quote
Rapidmc Posted September 3, 2010 Author Report Posted September 3, 2010 Thanks for the replies everyone. I have moved to a different state since I was baptised and I have never been in contact with anyone from church since I have been here. So that's one thing I have to do. Introduce myself to the local ward. I am somewhat aprehensive of doing that because of the life I have been living since I left. I'm sure my story is not too far off from what bishops hear all the time. One thing I am concerned about though is that I live with my girlfriend (fiance). We live together as a married couple and do intend on getting married but just haven't yet. She is not mormon and has no religious background. I am afraid of what could happen if anyone found out about my living situation. What could happen? Quote
FunkyTown Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 It depends on if you were endowed. Of course, it also depends on what inspiration the Bishop gets. You can't be baptized in your situation. Quote
MormonMama Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 It really just depends on so many factors. The best thing to do is talk with your Bishop, as soon as you find out who he is. I can guarantee you that one thing that will happen is that the Bishop will encourage you to get married ASAP. Quote
