Favorite Hymn

Boy am I in agreement with those that say many of our hymns are led far too slowly. I find myself in the congregation wanting to speed up the beat and being frustrated at the same time.

But I blame that many times on an organist that doesn't know how to follow a chorister.

Then again I'm far too critical with my years of being in music and choirs etc.

Come thou Fount of every blessing.

Amazing grace.

Lead Kindly Light

A poor wayfaring man of Grief

If you could hie to Kolob

Onward CHristian soldiers

Zion Zion God is calling

The Spirit of God

Come Come ye saints.

battle Hymn of the Republic

Star Spangled Banner

My country Tis of thee.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing is becoming a very special song to me.

YouTube - ?? Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing - Mormon Tabernacle Choir ??

Beautiful rendition of it by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I believe this arrangement is by Mac Wilberg.

I will have the pleasure of singing this song in the Tabernacle in concert in May. What an experience that will be with the organ and all. We will be doing this same arrangement.

I'm sure HiJolly will get a chuckle out of that. Me thinking that's a big deal when he sings there all the time. :)

Sacred hymns I would like to see sung at Church more frequently at the right speed include:

Don't Look Back (Boston) -- for forgiveness themed sacrament meetings

You Can't Hurry Love (Phil Collins Version) -- for those people waiting patiently for the right eternal companion to come along

Friends in Low Places (Garth Brooks version): for those Word of Wisdom themed sacrament meetings

Jive Talkin' (Bee Gees): To end one of those fast and testimony meetings where people say things that make you cringe.

However, I think they should be sung reverently to preserve the Spirit of the meeting.

How neat Pam!

Although I have sung with them as well....at conference....while sitting in the audience before the conference begins. I like to think it has the same effect, but I bet my neighbors didn't think so

You will be awesom, just try not to look too much like this  or :yikes: or :jawdrop:

Rather look more like this :o

or :sing:
