Franken Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 What calms your soul? What makes you feel like you can let go all the stress you have and have ever had? What gives you peace, and fills your heart with joy? For me, today as I was riding home with my sister not saying anything, I just spent some time looking out the window at the snow covered mountains. After staring out there for a while they were no longer mountains to me, I started to marvel at what great creations they are. One of God's finest. I'd been having so much stress recently that everything just felt like it was coming down on me, and just glancing at the mountains filled my soul with peace. The silence and serenity that surrounds them, what a glorius wonder. Quote

Blessed Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I like to run. I love to hike. I love to kayak. These things quiet my soul. It helps me to focus on the beauty of God's creation and allows me to think on Him. Sometimes just sitting on my deck at night looking at the stars does that too. Just stillness. Quote
Guest Starsky Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Stillness works. :) as Blessing stated... Also looking at the Mountains...Like you Franken,....my mountain is Mt Timp...I love that mountain...it just speaks to me of strength, peace, endurence and awe inspiring beauty. I am fortunate enough to have a perfect view of it from my side porch. Sunset do the same thing for me. Praying, listening to Pachabels cannon (sp) and some other inspiring music. Exercise...like walking in the beauty of a new day, watching the sun rise...all those beautiful colored clouds... Something about the new beginnings of a day...really are fortifying. Quote

Winnie G Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 The soft underside of my husbands arm when it’s around me. The wind blowing the wheat across the prairie like the waves of the sea. Sand between my toes on a beach. Waves on a steel blue north Atlantic. The midnight sky out side the city, the Milky way and the northern lights snapping and popping overhead. That’s the start. Quote
Lindy Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 What calms my soul? Watching the waves at the beach, winter or summer, there is just something about the sound of the crashing waves that chase the blues away for me. When I can't make a trip to the Pacific Ocean, I can pop a CD in and listen to the sounds of the ocean along with the sea gulls, rain, thunder, etc..... Relaxing just to lay in the dark, close my eyes and imagine myself on the beach, sitting there watching the waves. To just stare at the vast expanse of never-ending water, helps me to contemplate the wonders of the creation. The other place I can think about is just to sit or stand outside, when it is snowing, and have perfect silence other than the sound of the snowflakes.....very peaceful, very calming. And believe it or not....I like to listen to drums and guitar to relax too. I love to lay on the grass during a double drum solo, and feel the vibrations in my chest....to lose myself in the music, and not to think of anything else. Sometimes, I'll just get in the car and drive while listening to some hard rock, drums and guitar....it will calm me down :) I'm old, but not dead yet :) Quote
Cal Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 I love walking along the Ventura beach where I live--the ocean sounds are really soothing. I envie those that live along the Wasatch Front--some of the most beautiful scenery in the world--. I also love playing the guitar in a Club near my home with a friend of mine---when we finish the gig I feel totally relaxed. Quote
