Okay I got ANOTHER calling yesterday! I am now on the activity committee as well as achievement day leader for 8-11 girls. Big activity coming up of course....Pioneer day! ANy suggestions for activities or ways not to lose my head? The other big dilemma is our annual family reunion is the same day as pioneer day, not sure if its the same time, which do I attend? I am thinking how in the heck Im gonna do all this with a 20 month old and a 6 month old! Any suggestions, words of wisdom, prayers would be welcome!

ps Jason be nice! YOu seem on a mean streak here recently :D:P

Just pray MBASS. God is a god of miracles for the elect of Israel (aka Latter-day Saints). As a daughter of our Father in Heaven, you know that He will not give you burdens you cannot overcome. Fast if you feel it will help. Remember to endure to the end.

Jesus loves you.

I don't have my materials right in front of me. Can someone post what that says or provide a link? Can someone also explain what it is saying?

Thanks

Sometimes you need to study and pray to find the answers, Doc; instead of simply reading.

I doubt that you got through medical school without putting more of yourself in your thoughts, and you shouldn't expect to attain any true knowledge of God without seriously trying to learn.

This has nothing to do with me no longer being LDS... I would've said the same thing back when I was still a member. It is OK to say no. The LDS church is all about women staying home so that they can be there for their small children, but at the same time it expects women to work their butts off at various callings, which takes away from their time with the kids.

I'm not saying callings are bad, but your first priority should be to you family.

Just MHO!

I agree with Shantress ~ is the Bishopric aware of the fact that you have two such young children?

Who else was called as Activities person? That is a two (or more) person calling. When my sister had that calling, she had two councilors and a secretary to help her.

Make planes for the P Days pass out assignments and go to YOUR Family reunion.

Not as if they gave you, much time is it. I had three weeks to do the big ward Christmas dinner / party. When I was called. The bishop was no fool I did catering for weddings back then. He know I could do it.

Since then I stopped caterings, church members took it for granted.

It even fallow me to Manitoba when I left Nova Scotia, the church is truly small.

I pulled it off but I would have dropped in to someone else lap if I had a family reunion to go to.

Pass out assignments and go.

I believe the simplicity is always a hit. We have had a Pioneer Parade where people dress as Pioneers and and bikes or wagon. They would all meet at the park where they would have games and eat simple food.

You might try a web search on Pioneer Games and see what turns up. :)

First of all, it is a myth that all callings that are extended come from the Lord. I learned that the hard way some time ago when I was asked to serve in a calling that I had just recently had twice, onc in one ward, and the second in the ward I was attending. I asked the bishop if he had prayed about it, and he admitted that he had not, that he knew that I had served in that position once and felt that I would be a good candidate for the same position. I then told him that I would fast and pray about it. I fasted for a couple of days, and got my answer...do not take the calling. When next Sunday came around, I told the bishop that I would not be taking the calling and I told him that I had fasted and prayed about it, and that I was not meant to take this calling. He took it well, and later I learned that there was someone in the ward that was pushing him to call me to that position.

There is no substitute for personal revelation. When we were invited to receive baptism or to know if the Book of Mormon is true, we did so by personal revelation. Would any less be demanded of us to know if a calling was in fact, given of the Lord Jesus Chrst? I think not. No leader is the end-all, be-all of revelation, as we have to receive it for ourselves, or we become spiritually dead or enslaved. (See Journal of Discourses1: 312 and 8:399, and Discourses of Brigham Young, pg. 209.)
