abeChristianson Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 I know kind of what it means and why we say it. My question is if we are listening to someone give a talk or bear their testimony on the TV or radio (ie: General Conference) do we have to say Amen? Do we have to say Amen even if it is recorded and are listening to it again? (I do love to listen to General Conference). Just wondering. I don’t want to be weird at work saying Amen every five to fifteen minutes. LOL. If there are any answeres out there.. LOL Quote
Guest Sachi001 Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 Nope, but it's done to give a stamp of approval. It's like all in favor say Aye. You can say it or not. I don't say it, if I don't agree. Quote
lizrenowden Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 You could just think the amen, or whisper it very quietly to yourself - no reason as far as I know to say it out loud. Quote
rameumptom Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 You don't HAVE to do anything. However, if you agree with the prayer/etc, then to say "amen" means that you agree and hope it comes to pass as well. IOW, the prayer becomes your prayer as well. Quote
JudoMinja Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 I think that when we are watching general conference live it makes sense to say "Amen" at the appropriate moments (if we want to). However, when we are watching a recording, I don't see any need to say it. Quote

But, to me (and me alone as there's nothing doctrinal about this), saying "Amen" to a general conference talk recording is like re-affirming your desire to live by those principles and guidelines.Just my thought.
