dahlia Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) While there is no hard and fast rule, surely it's a more spiritual experience to participate in church rather than at home with your feet up like it's a typical Saturday afternoon.Puhleeze. Judgmental much?Last Conference I hosted my LDS neighbors and the missionaries. As a newbie, it was great to be able to ask questions while watching, something I might not have done if we were at the stake center. I learned a lot, instead of just sitting there confused. Also, it is noisy enough during Sacrament Meeting with all the babies in our ward. The last thing I want to do is to sit for hours with fussy, crying babies while I'm trying to hear the Prophet. And while my missionaries eventually fell asleep, no one had his feet on my coffee table.I think the real problem is that someone is so disrespectful and closed to the messages the Brethren and the GA's have as to admit to falling asleep during GC.I just saw this. My missionaries had been on their feet or riding their bikes all over their territory. They had been up since 6:30 a.m., they'd contacted investigators and less actives trying to get them to the stake center for Conference. They were tired and hungry by time they got to my place. If anyone deserved a little nap (during the accounting segment, for crying outloud, which I'm sure was the signal for many people to go to the john or get a snack), they did. I hope - no, I know- that Pres. Monson would be much more charitable toward them than you have been. Edited August 30, 2011 by dahlia actually read other posts Quote
FunkyTown Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 I said no such thing. In fact, given the choice, I'd prefer to dress up and go to the chapel. What I said is that I can fall asleep in the chapel just as well as I can fall asleep at home. And more often than not, I fall asleep wherever I'm viewing conference. But, then again, I have been known to fall asleep standing up. So my individual circumstances probably aren't the best barometer here.Yet, isn't that what this is about--making the best decision based on individual circumstances? Now there's a novel idea.I apologize, MOE. I misinterpreted what you had said. Quote
