Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 How does your belief in the Standard Works help you to live a life that is more pleasing to God, and also more fulfilling? What tools has the Triple given you, that the Bible alone did not? Also, what are some questions that you've find the Bible unable to answer, that these other works did answer?Hi Tommy, Some good thoughts there. :)And to answer your question, the Standard Works...(which includes the Holy Bible and some other sacred domuments, for those who don't know)... simply share some more of God's words... or words we refer to as scriptures...... and as you have heard, ALL scripture is profitable... for the man of God to be thoroughly furnished...... or in other words, Man does not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that comes from God...... and to know they're God's words, we simply asked God...But don't believe me. Ask God. :)
Dr T Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Hi Ray, This is a serious question. When you decided to "ask God" did you have to ask God if you should ask God? Again, I am not poking fun. I am only wondering if you listened to someone first, then asked God or if you have always that, "The only way I can know truth is by asking only God." Thank you, Dr. T
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I'm feeling that God feels I shouldn't listen to you anymore until you become more reasonable.... Josh B)Heh, sorry, that's not God. God wouldn't refer you to me... even if I could somehow be more reasonable. :)
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 When you decided to "ask God" did you have to ask God if you should ask God?Heh, that's funny. No, I didn't have to ask God if I should ask God... to tell me the truth about things.I already sensed that God was the one who would tell me the truth, if I asked. And I already sensed that there was a true God because God told me that when I asked. And btw, there are others who think they are God, and when you really know God, you'll know that.:)
JoshuaFKon Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 Hey Ray, Don't worry...I "know" it was God...and there's nothing you can say or do to talk me out of it because I don't listen to you now... lol Josh B)
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Hey Ray,Don't worry...I "know" it was God...and there's nothing you can say or do to talk me out of it because I don't listen to you now... lolJosh B)And I know it wasn't, but you can believe what you want to.And just because you're not listening, doesn't mean I'm through talking. LA LA LA, LA LA, LA LA. :)
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 LOL. You guys are funny I'm glad that you "sensed" my humor. :)
JoshuaFKon Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 Did you hear something Dr. T ? Josh B)
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Ouch! That has gotta hurt! Why would you do that?Did I seem a bit curt?I'm sitting. I'm standing. I sat.:)

Dr T Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I must have been channeling the frustration of everyone reading this thread. I represented it with the head banging. That’s all Ray. :)
prisonchaplain Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I'm sitting. I'm standing. I sat.:)Based on this incredible example of literary prowess, and through some detailed linguistic analysis, combined with consultations with a handwriting analysis, and through checking DNA samples, I have determined that ...RAY IS THE AUTHOR OF BOB'S BOOKS.
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I must have been channeling the frustration of everyone reading this thread. I represented it with the head banging. That’s all Ray. :)Oh. I see. You claim to be speaking for EVERYONE.Or at least everyone reading this thread. And since I've been reading, each post, every one.I must not be feeling. Am I dead???<div class='quotemain'>I'm sitting. No I'm not. Would you care to guess again???I know who I am, and I don't write those books.I do not right now, and not then. And I know who I am and have been. :)
JoshuaFKon Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 My thread has been Hijacked! Not to break up the fun...but back to the Book of Abraham.... Josh B)
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Not to break up the fun...but back to the Book of Abraham.... Josh B)Sheesh. Thanks Josh. I thought I'd been rhyming all day.Just ask ONE good question, and I'll give you a direct answer. But think carefully about what you will say. :)
JoshuaFKon Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 At last! ok, Ray. Why don't the scrolls appear to say what Joseph Smith claimed they did? Prehaps a better question would be...other then God telling you....why do you accept it as Gospel? Thanks Josh B)
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Why don't the scrolls appear to say what Joseph Smith claimed they did?Sorry to have to answer your question with a question, but:What do you mean???I think the scrolls DO appear to say what Joseph Smith claimed they did.Why don't you think they do???oops, nevermind that one... that last question, I mean.Let's try this approach...Pick one scroll, and one question you have about that scroll, to explain to me what you mean. And please be as specific as possible.Thank you. :)
JoshuaFKon Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 Sorry to have to answer your question with a question, but:What do you mean???I think the scrolls DO appear to say what Joseph Smith claimed they did.Why don't you think they do???Ray, The papyrus scrolls from which the Book of Abraham was translated were re-discovered in the 60'sDidn't you hear about that?Anyway, when they were taken to Egyptologists...they said it was not the Book of Abraham, but what the "anti-mormons" had said all along, The Book of the Dead. a commen Egyptian text.It is not even disputed by Mormons...it clearly is The Book of the Dead. Josh B)
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Josh, If you want my help, you're going to have to work with me, and I asked you to avoid that question. I'm not interested in discussing what "anti-mormons" have said all along, and I'm not even interested in what "anti-mormons" said and continue to say about the Book of Abraham. I want to know what YOU think about that book, and I want ONE question at a time. Okay? Let's try this again. Pick one scroll, and one question you have about that scroll, to explain to me what you mean. And please be as specific as possible. Thank you. :)
Dr T Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Ray, You've been telling us not to listen to any man but to listen to God. Now you are saying that you trust Joseph Smith saying what he said he said (I just felt like you when I typed that :) ) So, you do trust men or not? Thanks
JoshuaFKon Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 Ok,Papyrus Joseph Smith XI (also know as "Small Sensen")It was from the Egptian characters on the right hand side of this "Small Sensen" papyrus that Joseph Smith claimed to derive the translated text of the Book of Abraham. The right edge of this papyrus was once commected to the left edge of the "Facsimile No. 1"A translation shows it to be the opening portion of a first-century A.D. Book of BreathingsHow do you explain that?Josh B)
Ray Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Ray,You've been telling us not to listen to any man but to listen to God.Yes. That is right. Now you are saying that you trust Joseph Smith saying what he said he said (I just felt like you when I typed that :) ) So, you do trust men or not?ThanksI never said I trusted Joseph Smith, at least not before I knew He was a prophet of God... and even then I only trusted Joseph Smith because I knew God had spoken through Joseph. Why is that hard to understand???Do you trust that what the person named "Paul" wrote in the Bible was actually inspired by God, because your trust is in "Paul"???When God inspires His servants, and they speak for Him, then those people are acting as God.Read D&C 1. There's a scripture in there where our Lord was saying it' the same, when His servants are speaking for Him.
