annewandering Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 hmmm I know I remember more about when I am under than the doctors realize. I know for a fact I have gone under not hating a doctor or attendant and come out with a burning hatred of someone specific. I do not remember why but I do have the emotional reaction to something they did or said. Anyway I am still not fond of the idea of disappearing forever. Quote
norah63 Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Guess the question about prayer wasen't taken up. Was it inapproprate to ask why? If someone wants to reach another person with their faith then praying togeather would bring an openness of the spirit of each person. Do Mormon missionaries pray with each one they visit? Quote

prisonchaplain Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 They generally ask if they can have a word of prayer then they ask the head of the household to ask someone to pray.Last time LDS missionaries came to my house, we chatted a bit, with them explaining that they were sharing the gospel of Jesus, and me recognizing their diligence, and mentioning we had volunteers coming to the jail I work at, sent by the stake. Afterwards, I offered to pray for them, and the only concern they raised is whether I minded if they kept their gloves on as we held hands (I didn't mind).I do not imagine too many missionaries, regardless of faith, would refuse a prayer from those they meet. On the other hand, it's probably not the most common of experiences. Quote
LeKook Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 May I slip in the conversation and ask a question ? Have always wondered why, on visits, that JW's do not ask or accept prayer with those they contact? Having study time with some for a time, it would seem approprate to open or close with a prayer. All of the information so far has been very enlightning. It is good to learn from one another.Hi Norah, I'm a former JW (10 years). Not sure what you mean when you say "ask or accept prayer". The reason they do the praying, instead of asking the householder to do it, is because they want to be sure the correct deity is being addressed (namely, Jehovah, through Jesus Christ). They want to be clear on whom is being prayed to and through whom the prayer is made. :) Quote
norah63 Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 Guess that has just been my expierence with those who have visited at our home. Never did they ask to pray, or ask me about prayer. So I didn't bring it up, maybe should have. Thanks for letting me know it might have been because we would not have used the same title to adress in prayer. I always pray to my Father in Jesus name.
