Sicily510 Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 The whole purpose of my post is that Zimmerman lacked sound motifs, moral ethics in his judgement of pursuing Trayvon. There are other means as to attaining perps on premises such as stun guns, pepper spray, calling backup to ensure safety for yourself. Even at that, if they were in a physical altercation Zimmerman should have utilized a pepper spray, stun gun. I'm sure if Trayvon was lethal, Zimmerman would of been shot without any physical altercation. Criminal minds do not stress moral decisions. There has been people shot in front of my house without a verbal altercation or physical altercation. Drive by shooting at homes and kids getting shot from gang rivalries. If Zimmerman followed accordingly I wouldn't consider him lethal but that's my own personal opinion. I live in East Oakland, California not even police would pursue some of the thugs and/or hoodie wearing perps in this community at gun point they use taser guns (it's really popular). Why should a voluntary neighborhood watchmen resort to a gun then? Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) There are other means as to attaining perps on premises such as stun guns, pepper spray, calling backup to ensure safety for yourself.Zimmerman did call for backup; it just didn't get there soon enough to stop Martin from trying to beat Zimmerman to a bloody pulp. As for stun guns or pepper spray: If the circumstances were such that Zimmerman is legally culpable for using deadly force, he would also have been legally culpable for using non-deadly force and you can bet your bottom dollar that the Martin family (including Trayvon himself) would have their hired gun Benjamin Crump playing the race card and pursuing civil damages.I'm sure if Trayvon was lethal, Zimmerman would of been shot without any physical altercation.Third-party witnesses report Martin appeared to be on top of Zimmerman pinning him down, MMA-style, while continuing to hit him. Martin succeeded in fracturing Zimmerman's skull and breaking his nose. If Zimmerman hadn't pulled his gun, he may easily have been unconscious--or dead--by the time police got there.Martin's apologists make much of the allegation that Zimmerman did not break off his pursuit of Martin even after he was explicitly told to do so by the 911 dispatcher. However, so far as I know, there is nothing in the factual record suggesting that Zimmerman did not break off his pursuit as instructed. All we know is that at some point shortly thereafter, Zimmerman and Martin wound up in close proximity to each other again. Zimmerman has a criminal record and is now a known liar. Martin isn't around to give his side of the story, but he had drugs in his system at the time and was hardly a paragon of virtue himself. Without more information, it's a statistical crapshoot as to whether that continued proximity was due to Zimmerman's or Martin's bad behavior.People can talk about whether legal burdens have or haven't been met (I've repeatedly offered my opinion here that they probably have not); but anyone who positively argues that Zimmerman acted "wrongfully" at this point has to be proceeding on either unestablished factual data, or the assumptions that either monitoring suspicious-acting individuals who happen to be minorities or defending oneself from a physical assault by a minority are unjustifiable per se. Echo2002 Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 I read an article recently, I don't remember where, but it was discussing the fact that you can not charge someone with racial profiling. The only people who can legally be charged with racial profiling are law enforcement officers. Since Zimmerman was not a law enforcement officer I don't see how they can claim profiling in this case was illegal. I don't believe Zimmerman was profiling Martin. Quote
