Holly3278 Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 I am just curious as to what Mormons believe about the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost? Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Umm.. it is the comforter, and is there to guide you. Anyone who is having a spiritual experiance can feel it, but if you want him with you guiding you ALWAYS, than you need to get baptised by fire. Maybe you should be talking to the missionaries. Quote
Dr T Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 baptised by fire what does that mean to you Des? Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 baptised by fire what does that mean to you Des?Being confermed a member and getting the Holy Spirit as a gift...Like.. he will be with you always as long as you aren't doing anything you shouldn't! Quote
Dr T Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Thanks Des,Like.. he will be with you always as long as you aren't doing anything you shouldn't!What does "always" mean to you Des? Sorry couldn't resist. Quote

It expresses my thoughts, too. Quote
Dr T Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 That was really was "well said," Dancer. My question would be how do you know that is not just an attribution to something outside yourself which was really a biological instinct or your "conscience" or some cognitive dissonance? I’m not disagreeing with you-I’m just curious as to how you come to that conclusion for yourself. Thank you, Dr. T Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Thanks Des,Like.. he will be with you always as long as you aren't doing anything you shouldn't!What does "always" mean to you Des? Sorry couldn't resist.Always... as in, even when I am not listening, and just walking... He will still be talking to me.He is the only thing I can depend on, save the Saviour and Heavenly Father to never let me down, and to be there for me when I am sad. Quote
Dr T Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Then what do you mean by, "as long as you aren't doing anything you shouldn't."? Would he leave you? If he leaves you wouldn't he not be there with you? Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Well... duh... If He leaves me... then no... He is no longer with me. BUT, I could get Him back. The idea though, is to not make really stupid choices! Quote
Dr T Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 K, last try. If he is with you ALWAYS but leaves you and is NOT with you then your comment is meaningless. Dr. T Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 No it wasn't. The difference between you and me in that regard, is he isn't with you when you are walking down the street thinking about nothing... For me, he is. Quote
Dr T Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Des, You do not know that. I can say the same thing. "The Holy Spirit is with me and not with you." "When I read scripture, things are truly revealed to me and not to you." Can you really say that with certainty? Dr. T Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I never said that about reading scriptures. Of you pray before you read, it is the same as me praying before I read the scriptures. If you want to know the truth, pray! and the spirit will reveal it unto you. Quote
Dr T Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 But that is just it Des. Truth by it's very nature is exclusive . Truth would have to be truth. If we get diffrerent messages, one (or both) would have to be false. Dr. T Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I believe that truth can only be one thing, and that there is only one answer... I don't see where I argued different... Quote
Dr T Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 You just said we are the same, you pray and I pray. Please don't use the "I don't really know what I'm saying argument." Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 It is NOT an arguement.. it is the truth. How else would you like me to say "HUH?!?!" Quote
Dr T Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Again, not ready to understand this conversation, Des. Just build your foundation on a rock not sand. Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 My foundation is on a rock. I am following you around in circles, and I am done with it now. Quote
Dr T Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I don't think there was any following invovled. Thanks for the conversation Desire. :) Quote
Princess3dward Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 I guess you were watching from a different view... Like.. a mud pit. Quote
Blessed Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Maybe I can help. Maybe I can't, but anyway I will try. Dr T and I are both looking at the same painting. It is painted in only one color. He says it is blue and I say it is white. We both can't be right. So it is with the Truth. There is only one Truth. Muslims call it Allah we call it Jesus and devil worshippers call it Satan. WHo is right? How do we know we are right? Quote
