Misshalfway Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Is anybody familiar with this stuff?I just watched the Dr. Oz promo and I almost actually believed him. Either this is something like HCG that is controversial but effective, or it's just another scam.Anyone have any personal experience??Here's a link:Raspberry Ketone: Fat-Burner in a Bottle | The Dr. Oz Show Quote
pam Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 I've been hearing a lot about raspberry ketones lately. I wonder too if it is just hype or is there some truth to it. Quote
Wingnut Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 From The Great And Mighty Wikipedia:When given to mice in very high doses (up to 2% of body weight), raspberry ketone has been shown to prevent high-fat-diet-induced elevations in body weight.[8] However, no effects on body weight were observed with doses up to 200 times greater than the estimated intake in humans.[9] The high dose effect is reported to stem from the alteration of lipid metabolism, increasing norepinephrine-induced lipolysis. Although products containing this compound are marketed for weight loss, there is no clinical evidence for this effect in humans. In a June 2012 article, nutritional supplement manufacturer Andrew Lessman criticized and countered sensationalized media and marketing claims about raspberry ketone’s purported weight-loss benefits and strongly cautioned against its use.[10]Raspberry ketone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Quote
classylady Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 I had never heard of raspberry ketones before, until today, when I happened to get an email about it from one of my health blogs I belong to. And then I see this post on lds.net. Wouldn't it be nice if there really was a "magic" formula/pill that would melt away all those excess pounds? Quote
Guest Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Balanced holistic food intake and exercise. It's a lifestyle. Live it, love it, own your body. Everything else is just a fad. Okay, that's not from me. That's my husband's philosophy. Quote
