Students Can't answer basic questions about America

Yeah, I'd really like to see a statistic of that. Because, a lot of my husband's generation of Americans that I have come in contact with are not politically "informed". I mean, simple things like... how the federal government comes up with a budget...

Those questions weren't even political in nature. They were basic questions regarding things we learn as we are growing up. Well except the question about the current VP.

One of my favorites: Which countries border the US. Canada? Oh wait that's a state nevermind.

And to not be able to name the United States (which is where they live) as a country that starts with a "U."

I always thought there were 50 stars on the flag...... Good thing they didn't ask about the stripes, too. one one of those kids may have had convulsions.

I have to admit, I can't remember what the capital of Washington is. I just knew it wasn't Seattle.

That I knew.

Here's the trivia... Can you name all of them?

LET ME TRY! No googling....

New York

New Jersey

Pennsylvania

Virginia

New Hampshire

Maryland

Delaware

Connecticut

Carolinas (were they already North and South then?)

Georgia

Massachussets

Darn... I can't remember all of them. FAIL.

I KNOW I KNOW!! RHODE ISLAND!!!!

So, Carolinas must have been split to North and South... that makes 13.

I know Maryland and Rhode Island were 2 of them. Now you are asking me to remember things so long ago.

Everything I need to know about American History, I learned from my Elementary music teacher.

"Fifty nifty united states, and 13 original colonies. . ."
