Hello, everyone. Long story short, I converted when I was 16, went inactive when I was 19 and have remained so for about 4 years now. I bare no hard feelings towards the church or its members, but I do not believe anymore. I'm essentially agnostic.

However, I do have some cultural affinity for the church. I also don't drink alcohol or coffee (though admittedly it's more that I don't like the taste of either than any attempt to keep the WoW) and I don't smoke.

Why am I here? I guess I like being around Mormons, even though I've never been a good one. In any case, I've been lurking on this site for a long time now, so I look forward to finally participating. :)

Glad to have you aboard. I am new here as well. I too had no longer believed at one point. While we each have different journies I will say this. There have ben plenty of LDS who lost belief and lost their testimonies of restored Gospel as "TRUE". I know of several who after having lost complete faith and having withdrawn themselves from the Church, years later made their way back and regained faith. It isn't a closed case. So, my two thoughts are

1.) glad your here and glad you still find value among the saints

2.) don't count out that your beliefs can again change and that for them to do so, you have to be around the gospel and be open to new insights.

Greetings - I am an engineer and scientist as well as a covenant LDS individual. What has convinced you to consider that being an agnostic is the noblest service one can perform for their fellow man?

Hello, Traveler. I think I see where you might be going with this. Science has never been my forte, so I make no claim to being some sort of free thinker or skeptic.

Quite frankly, my agnosticism would be better classified as more a sort of apathy than anything else. Does god or any sort of deity exist? I don't know and it doesn't really weigh on me. Perhaps someday it will, but not at the moment.

As for your question, I don't find my beliefs (or lack of) noble or ignoble, nor much of a service to anyone in and of itself. My actions matter more than anything I profess to believe in or not.
