Bini Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 We have been without TV since we moved into our new house. We just never got around to setting it up again. Anyway, we were going to share a Netflix account with a sibling but decided to go with the Roku 3 after hearing and reading lots of positive reviews. I thought I would mention it for those of you on-the-fence about what TV option is best for you. Here's a review from CNET and here's Amazon Customer Reviews and purchase link.We got ours at Target for about $100 and are going to set it up tonight! I cannot wait to watch two of my favourite programmes on demand! One of them starts their new season this evening - YAY. Quote
rameumptom Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 I have a Google Chromecast, and use it quite a bit, even without a subscription to Netflix, etc. Quote
Bini Posted January 15, 2014 Author Report Posted January 15, 2014 The Roku 3 is very easy to setup. It said that within minutes you'll be ready to watch new releases but I was sceptical. It's just never that simple! Well, it really was. Last night we just setup the kiddo with some Disney and PBS, which we watched for a bit, but haven't selected the channels or movies that we (mummy and daddy) want to watch yet. The nice thing about this system, is if you don't have a device - just get this and you're ready to watch anything and everything - whereas many services are just the services, you have to buy the box separately. Anyway, going to checkout some more stuff on it today. Quote
estradling75 Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Question for you Bini... what can you use/watch on the Roku 3 if you don't subscribe to anything like Netflicks. The reviews talk about there being content but that tends toward generalities... I am curious as to what you find in reality for it Quote
scdoyle Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Love our Roku! Lots of cool channels (BYUTV, Mormon Channel, etc.). Being able to watch conference live is great. Kids love wathing Studio C on the BYU channel. I can even stream to it from my PC. Quote

But as of now, we are getting a bunch of movies and channels that are free - including Netflix - and a bunch of other big hitters. Quote
