I have a strange brain dissorder that makes me sleep about 30 minutes a day. Im only a little tired a moment before and after the sleep.

This has been haunting me some years now, it didnt come right away but periodically.

On the night when evereyones asleep, I get bored, realy bored. I amuse myself by studying, evereything, history, theology, biologi, see movies, listen o music.

But im still bored, evereone sleep during the night I dont, And I want to change that.

Can God give me more sleep?

I think God sometimes helps us via medicine. I don't expect God to heal my illness in person. I also have an illness of my brain called Multiple Sclerosis. I have moderate sleeping difficulty. My nerve damage, and difficulty sleeping may or may not be related. The Trazodone they have me on helps me sleep. Try some medicine options. I usually take one 50 MG pill, but my prescription say's I can take two pills nightly.

I play my PS2. That seems to keep me from getting bored. As my illness forced me to quit driving I got very bored. You can only do so much to keep oneself amused without others. The local Health and Welfare in Nampa, Idaho got me persons to give me transportation. I find hanging out and socializing helps me feel fulfilled.

If I lived next to an all night fitness center I would love that. I take brief walks and got a peddler to keep my legs strong. Excercise helps me keep from getting bored. You might add some light excercise to what you are doing.

I exercise, but I can not take medecine, I have fear of drugs since I lost a baby sister that ate my grandmothers heart pills. They look like candy, blue balls et c.

I dont like computer games, I do however read a lot. I just wish God could make me sleep when evereyone else is.

I don't know if you've ever heard of this saying... but here goes. "If you can't sleep, don't count sheep. Talk to the Shepard."

I don't mean to sound harsh or cold, but I think if you asked Him to help you get more sleep (rather than asking us if He can help you) you'd have better results.

I sit here at 4:05 in the morning... I have the same issues, however, I am able to rely on some meds to help. Also, don't hesitate to ask for a blessing for some guidance. I know all of our prayers aren't always answered the way that we want them to be, but I do envy your time to learn so much! LOL You're already that much ahead of the rest of us! :) Good luck and God bless.

I believe he will. Go and pray and ask for a blessing. Thats all that i can tell you. My sleep paralysis stopped after I asked God to stop it.

REALY! So he does answer that pray? I have prayed to him without results, so I guess it must be a rule book or something.

You mean 30mins a day total? and you can survive on this? Perhaps this can cheer you up....

I'm jealous....if I could sleep only 30mins a day, that would be great. I'm so busy with school and other things. I normally get about 3-4hrs a sleep a night.

Perhaps thats a calloused way of looking at it, but if you can make it on that little sleep...I'm amazed, and jealous..

Rebif. Once a week?

I have no idea how often, maybe.

If you think I'm special, there is a guy in America called "the button man", he never sleaps ever. He got hes name by gluing buttons on stuff when evereyone else is asleep.

dont be jealous, its realy boring, of course you get more things done. But its a realy lonley world and you just count the hours untill the world wakes up.

TBP,

Have you had a preisthood blessing? While I cant say that your issue will be healed, but I can tell you that you might gain some insight as to what you can do to help it.

I gave a blessing once on my mission and the young boy had a serious condition. He had seen a few doctors, but wasnt very confident that they could do anything. I felt very strongly that the parents should continue to search with other doctors. In this case, it was very important, and I felt heavanly father was telling me to bless them to hurry, see another doctor ASAP! It was an incredibly strong message. I never found out what happened. But I know I did my part.

Blessings can be incredible. Especially when we are worthy, the spirit just comes right through the person giving the blessing. The most incredible blessing I've had was about a year ago. I was full of dispair when I was laid off, with seemingly little prospects for the future in the area I was in. I called the 2nd counselor in the bishopric, he promptly came over and gave me one of the most spiritual blessings I have ever recieved. I'm a grown man, over 40 years old, and I was crying when it was over. The other people in the room looked at me in in gratefulness, that I asked them to participate - I was not embarrased at all. I too felt I had taken part in something really wonderful. What I got out of it, Heavanly Father was right there, he knew what was going on, he had a plan for me, and all I had to do is take one step at a time.

I have been so incredibly blessed. It is true we dont know why we have physical and temporal issues, but we all have them. I am also hard of hearing, I was born that way. I tell you it has helped me to become a better listener.

I would get a blessing and find out what heavanly father thinks about the situation. If you can, do a little fasting, and continue to do what you are doing - studying! Thats the first step in revelation and I think you've earned that first step!

Good luck.

I think you just don't work hard enough. I say, get your butt out in the workforce and do 16-20 hours of hard, back-breaking work a day. Good old, sweat like you've never sweat before work. do it 6 days a week. And if you can't sleep after a month of doing that, turn your body over to science so they can study you. Either you're not working hard enough to merit sleep, or you're a walking miracle.

Please do not change your eating habits (fast) or take on any physical activity without consulting your doctor.

You only told us about your sleeping patterns and that they are the result of a brain disorder. We don't know what type of brain disorder that you have nor are we medically able to help you.

I am glad that you are a member of LDSTalk.com. I will be looking for a post from you occasionally when you think everyone is asleep.

It depends sometimes healing blessings come and help immediatly - and other times there is a reason for it its part of our learning process here on Earth - have you had a priesthood blessing? I know with my illness I have been promised periods of remission but there are things I need to do to get those and my illness will never completely leave my body. I also know I wouldn't be who I am today without the really difficult times.

Leornard Wilson the Bishop of Singapore was captured by the Japanese in WWII - he was severely tortured his torturers kept taunting him by asking why his God didn't save him - his response was that his God did save him, not by removing him from the situation but by giving him the strength to bear it. I find meditation helps me - have you tried hypnotherapy? Like yourself my body has sleep issues but it causes pain, fatigue and my body to go completely pearshaped. Also have you read the Continuum Concept by Jean Liedoff? it has some interesting paragraphs on it of the Arkaana Tribe, has come principles that may help. If not maybe there is a night job you are destined for :)

Another book I find useful and allows me to at least relax is Learn to Pray by Marcus Braybrooke really helped me put my life in perspective. You sound well read enough that you have probably done everything you can on your own at this stage - I know with most conditions the intial bit you try anything

If not when my illness finally caused me to crash and prevented me from working I wrote down the advantages of that - things like when the weather was nice being able to sit on the beach all day and listen to the waves etc

I'm a little confused as to why there needs to be some sort of scriptural reference for everyday common sense life. Working hard, eating correctly and avoiding some things like caffeine etc are not examples of LDS faith? I'd like you to show me some scriptural reference or response that would show otherwise.

He first wrote that he had a brain disorder. I have no idea what that means.

3 Ne. 17: 6-7

6 And he said unto them: Behold, my bowels are filled with compassion towards you.

7 Have ye any that are sick among you? Bring them hither. Have ye any that are lame, or blind, or halt, or maimed, or bleprous, or that are withered, or that are deaf, or that are afflicted in any manner? Bring them hither and I will heal them, for I have compassion upon you; my bowels are filled with mercy.

I think I was diagnosed sometime in 2002. I have been started on the generic version of Novantrone by IV at a cancer treatment center. My ability to take brief walks with my Cain has improved since being on it. I was using a walker almost exclusively for awhile. I am 38 years old. Though with MS it's hard to know if it's the drug working, or the disease has just lightened up on you.

Outside of medication for sleeping problems the only other thing one might try is hypnosis. Health food stores have stuff that's supposed to help with insomnia.
