rosie321 Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 How were people saved during the time of the Great Apostasy?LDS answer -Faith and obedience to truths known. Those who never had a chance to hear will be taught. Even though priesthood authority/power was removed from the earth for a time it has been restored again.Any necessary ordinances such as baptisms etc. will be done by proxy (a living person/relative on the earth today. (It binds the generations together our ancestors helped us with giving us physical birth and we can aide them in their spiritual rebirth). Most non-LDS christian faiths, from my personal experience, believe that truth was never really removed in the fullest sense. The apostasy, as presented by LDS is incorrect.A willing, open heart can always find and be reached by Christ. You would as always repent, have faith in christ and try to do His will. Quote
Guest Yediyd Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 How were people saved during the time of the Great Apostasy? They weren't, that's what baptism for the dead is all about. They will inherit a place in one of the kingdoms, but cannot progress until the work is done for them in the Temple...but don't worry, God is just, and we will have the time and opportunity to do that work during the 1000 year millenial rein of Christ. Also, I believe that the veil will be very thin during the millenial kingdom...we will find out who needs this work done even if the records have been distroyed. If my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather has to come tell me himself...his work will be done. Quote
Holly3278 Posted June 17, 2007 Author Report Posted June 17, 2007 Ok thank you everyone. An online missionary told me that they gain salvation in the afterlife. Is that true? Quote
Guest Yediyd Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Ok thank you everyone. An online missionary told me that they gain salvation in the afterlife. Is that true?Well there is alot more to it....but essentially, yes. the work of missionary servis does not end with this life. Quote
LukeAir2006 Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Ok thank you everyone. An online missionary told me that they gain salvation in the afterlife. Is that true?Everyone will have exactly the same opportunities. God is totally fair and just. If you dont hear the Gospel in this life, you will hear it in the Spirit world. If you can't get baptized in this life, someone will eventually do it by proxy and you can accept or reject it in the spirit world. Everyone still has to repent and overcome their weaknesses. We will be judged on what we knew and what we did with that knowledege :) Quote
CrimsonKairos Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 They wear VR goggles and walk on treadmills linked to PC's so that every step they take on the treadmill moves them forward in the VR world they see through their goggles. To log on to sites, they knock on VR doors that they see in their goggles, and to give discussions, they utilize built-in VOIP and bluetooth technologies in their VR headsets. It's a thought, anyway... Quote
Holly3278 Posted June 18, 2007 Author Report Posted June 18, 2007 An online missionary?? Yes, if you go to Mormon.org and click on Ask a Question (I think that's what its called) it'll bring up two options and one of them is to chat live with a missionary. Quote
