Why should babies take the sacrament?

I like the comment on that WoW thread...

We like to add unnecessary sins to ourselves.

C'mon, people.  The sacrament is a very important ordinance.  If little kids cannot partake of it, the Bishop will tell you straight up - don't let your un-baptized kids partake.  At the podium, even.  If little kids have to partake of it, the Bishop will tell you straight up too - you have to allow your un-baptized kids to partake.  At the podium as well.

The baptism is more tongue in cheek, rather than trying to convince anyone, we simply disagree; although I refer back to my previous statement, "If a parent believes in this I have no qualms with it. This is their choice, and I would support the parent." (emphasis added to my first response)Agreed, the frequency does not make the Sacrament any less sacred; although, we don't have any leader (GA) specifying anything against young children partaking the Sacrament either. If we read on Lds.org, there are more comments in favor of teaching by example with the Sacrament, and the only negativity I ever read/hear are from parents who have a strong opinion, which I go back to, "This is their choice, and I would support the parent."

I thank you for your support.

I should clarify that I don't think my views or opinions on the matter should be the standard for all members. I only post them as the question was asked an this is an open forum for such ideas and opinions. These are the thoughts and considerations that went into the decision for my family, let other families worship how they may.

I attended a family ward and saw parents giving their very young babies and kids under 8 years old the sacrament. Why do children under the age of 8 need to take the sacrament since they are innocent and aren't baptized members of the ward who have made baptismal covenants. I've never understood the need or desire to give babies the sacrament. That's up there with infant baptism.

While I am on the fence on the issue with little children, I'd say a clear line is giving it to babies who are so young that they can't even hold it in their hands themselves.  I've even seen a parent give the bread and water to the baby when it was asleep.  That was ridiculous.
