seashmore Posted September 1, 2017 Report Posted September 1, 2017 On a lighter note, it's not uncommon to see the names of major hurricanes show up in popular baby name lists after the aftermath. That being said, Harvey is not very posh sounding, and with all the talk of Houston in the news, I'm wondering if that may be what gets used instead. Thoughts? Quote
anatess2 Posted September 1, 2017 Report Posted September 1, 2017 Don't you know you're not supposed to assume your child's gender? Get on with the program dude! seashmore 1 Quote
Maureen Posted September 1, 2017 Report Posted September 1, 2017 I don't think either name will catch on. M. Quote
SilentOne Posted September 1, 2017 Report Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) Harvey has actually been racing up the charts for the last few years. Katrina had been declining pretty slowly up until a spike in 2005, followed by a quick decline. Edited September 1, 2017 by SilentOne seashmore 1 Quote
SilentOne Posted September 1, 2017 Report Posted September 1, 2017 I just checked on Houston and it has been climbing pretty slowly for the past couple years, which could have been a blip. seashmore 1 Quote

Harvey is what I consider an old timey name, and the old timey names are making a comeback. It's a good, solid name, I hope to see more Harveys. Houston, is eh, but naming kids after cities and cars seems to be popular. Making a wild guess...there are more parents who will name their babies after a city than there are parents who will give their babies an old timey name.
