askandanswer Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 By way of information Last Thursday after weeks of negotiation and speculation, the leader of the minority New Zealand First party decided that he would support the Labor Party in a coalition to form the new government in New Zealand. The leader of the Labour Party, Jacinda Ardern, who only became the leader less than 2 months before the election, will now be Prime Minister. She was raised as a Latter-day Saint but left the church in 2005. I'm not sure if she is still on the church records, but if she is, I believe she would be the first ever Latter-day Saint head of state. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacinda_Ardern I've heard that she is related to Elder Ian Ardern who was called as a Seventy in 2011. In July this year he was called to be second counsellor in the Pacific Area Presidency, with has its headquarters in New Zealand. http://www.mormonnewsroom.org.nz/article/new-zealand-latter-day-saint-leader-returns-home NeedleinA, Sunday21 and zil 3 Quote
