pushka Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 <div class='quotemain'>and another really southern thing that struck me as rather peculiar was the fact that the women do the yard work here. you almost always see the wives out mowing the lawn. :) :) That's because the menfolk are always out hunting and fishing! Someone has to do the yard work! This feels just like Little House on the Prairie all over again, lol! Quote
Palerider Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 hee hee!! buggy is a very southern term. I've only ever heard it here and people look at me weird when I yell to Ivy to "get me a cart" when we go in to the local Wal-Mart... other very southern terms I've learnedSlower than ChristmasHoney (everyone's honey..or sugar) and another really southern thing that struck me as rather peculiar was the fact that the women do the yard work here. you almost always see the wives out mowing the lawn. :)I know of one home in the Mid West where that doesn't apply..... Annabelli Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 We always open our "regifts" as they come to the house just in case it is food! Regifts: Wedding Gifts not sent to bride & groom last summer (towel set, collect a pot starter set, plain white greeting cards with Merry Christmas written) Two Maternity Blouse Tops (just call me Sarah) Antique Boxed Shirt & Tie Gift Felt ribbon decoration & metal clip on tie (classic #9 Blue dye) extra button & thead too! Croquet Set (I was really hoping for Badminton...the snow is deep!) December 9th, our dog had puppies. I was given an adorable kitten for Christmas too. We are redecorating the house (not remodeling...just similar) so it was impractical to put up a Christmas Tree this year. We really couldn't decide what to do about decorations but friends started bringing us candles. It turned out so pretty. Quote
