Well I am home from the hospital minis one gallbladder.

They had trouble with me in surgery and I ended up with five different incisions, it was because I had other abdominal surgeries before (cancer)

The surgeon said he know it was not going to be a cakewalk when they had trouble getting the tub down my throat.

I have never been so scared in my life, it was not the surgery that freaked me out it was the amount of people in the operating room and they were unwrapping all this instruments and I could hear them counting at the same time they were strapping me on to the table like a cross, I passed out as they reached 15 in there count I was not even asked to count backwards.

I woke up coughing up blood and the doctor telling my husband “other then all that it went well”

I so relieved to be home and blessed to have the husband I have.

My co-workers sent me roses and a funny card, one writing in it “that being off sick and in the hospital means when I come back I have to supply snacks” He is always looking for free snacks.

I have to get work going on a project I had on the go when I became sick so I have to work on that from home. Never a dull moment.

Hi Winnie!

I had my gallbladder taken out two years ago. I miss the days when they had you wait in the hall on a gurney, under a warm blanket, while the anesthesiologist came there and got you "starting to feel like a marshmallow". They did this before you entered the operating room. I think that they are just in such a hurry to get you done and on to the next. Actually, it probably didn't take any longer and it just made a more comfortable experience for me, the patient. For one of my surgeries I even had to walk into the operating room with all of the bright lights and cold temperature.

I did have a funny thing happen after my gallbladder surgery though. When I was a kid and got my tonsils taken out they gave them to me in a bottle. I asked my surgeon if I could have a few of my gallstones and he said, "sure I don't know why not". I was in surgery longer then they had expected and when he came out he handed my mom this jar full of stones and told her that it wasn't even half of them! My mom gave them to me and I took them home in a plastic cup with a blue lid. They were really weird to look at... they had many facets to them like a gem and they had yellow slime all over them. I couldn't help but think how these looked like something out of a prehistoric time. When people came to visit I would ask them if they wanted to see my stones. Several weeks after the surgery my friend from CO. came to see me. She is really into homeopathic medicine and how the body works. She wanted to see my stones so I went and got them but they had changed. The yellow slime had dried and worked as an adhesive... the stones were stuck together. I shook the bottle and the stones went spilling onto the floor and my two shitzu's went to see what I had dropped. We both started screaming because they were so gross and now on the floor where my dogs could get to them! Maybe you just had to be there to find this funny. :P I can see why they cause so much pain...some are really quite large.

Good luck in the healing process. :)

I can’t remember if I told any one about this brother at church asking me for my stones???

Now remember we’ve only been here since the beginning of May so it is not like we know our ward well yet.

This brother at church last Sunday taped me on my shoulder and said “Sister I hear your getting your gallbladder removed, I teach Anatomy can I have your stones?”

With out thinking I said “Sure” he then told me he has shelves of different bottles of what ever in his classroom.

So when I was at the hospital and they brought the papers for me to sign they gave me this talk on how they don’t give back stones anymore after finding out their toxic.

Holy crumb! I thought to myself, my mother kept her stone for years in her top dresser draw, (don’t ask she touched) as the Newfoundlanders say.

So this anatomy teacher has shelves of Toxic stones and heavens knows what in his classroom!

Oh BIG YUCK!

PS. The families in my ward have been wonderful to us as I recover. They have dropped off meals and stopped in every day to see how we are coping.

Between the flowers and cards from work and visits, getting rest has to be penciled in.

My boss called me tonight asking for a year report for the board general meeting on the 20th. The office manger gave me the files off my desk the day after I came home.

I should have known something was up. <_<

That is almost as scary as your operation....a guy wants your stones??

Did he give you a reason?
