As a side note to this discussion. It is my opinion that most of the weeping on judgement day will not be from the poor souls that did not receive any of G-d's grace - but a large number of those that did receive his grace when they find out all who received G-ds grace.

...but on the upside, shortly he will be Mormon!

What a creepy thing to say... or even think.

Does Reagan even have a choice or will he be forced into mormonism?

Answer: 16 years.

Or - just maybe - Snow frequents that board as well, and that's where he got that idea?!

Snow, are you a closet non-believer? C'mon, you can tell us.

Nah, I've been using that joke for year... and not because I heard it from somewhere else.

...and no, I am not a closet non-believer. On the face of it I am a critic and devil's advocate but in reality I am a pretty orthodox believer. Sunday I teach priesthood: I think the lesson is on Almighty or powerful God or something but I am going to approach it from the angle of ... Divine Justice/Theodicy

Oh, very good question Trident!!! Yes, of course, as you already know, LDS doctrine is that all are forced to accept mormonism. Reagan will have no choice. LDS doctrine has never been that those who have vicarious ordinances performed on their behalf will then have the opportunity to accept or reject that ordinance. Of course you already knew this. Very good question.

Think about it. Inherrent in Trident's question, even if he failed to recognize it himself, he accepts the inevitability that one day, we'll all be Mormon.

Yeah, I can tell from your posts your pretty orthodox.

However, what's the deal with that Cal? He says he's a member, but I don't see how he can truly believe, and still have the opinions he has. And no, I'm not talking about him behind his back. I keep meaning to ask him, but always forget. Hopefully he's reading this.

And no, I don't want him to NOT be a member, I'm just curious. For all I care, everyone can be a member... more tea and wine for me!

Here's my take on Cal, he sees value in the Church and value in maintaining some sort of connection to it but he does see it as the absolutely true restored truth.... He has a scientific mind and believes in challenging assumptions, rejecting the absurd and motivating others to find truth without relying on dogma.

Ancienty the name of G-d was altered to keep it sacred. I alter references as part of a personal covenant to keep his name sacred.

But Traveler,

His name isn't God.

Traveler,

Yeah, what Snow said. And besides, the ancient Hebrews left out vowels so that nobody would accidently pronounce his name. When you say God do you say Gu=de?

Posted

Correct me if I am wrong but the ancient Hebrews weren't saying the word god; god is a noun meaning a diety and God mean The Diety. The ancient Hebrews were actually show respect for what they believed was the name of their god, which was not God.

...not that I think that Traveler's habit is an incorrect one, i just don't know where it's coming from exactly.
