Lindy Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A U.S. Marine was killed in action in Iraq's Anbar province, the U.S. command said Sunday. The Marine, who was not identified by name or unit, was killed Saturday, the command said. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. Anbar province, which covers a large swath of western Iraq, includes such insurgency hotspots as Ramadi, Qaim and Fallujah. The statement contained no further details. More than 830 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq last year, according to the Defense Department. ---------------------------- This Marine was a friend....married to my daughters best friend....any news that anyone has about him or what they have heard happened....please email me, his family has gotten next to nothing from the marines who came to the door last night. I will pm his name to a few I think can help ....I won't put his name on the board until it goes public. I ask for prays for his family, but mostly for his wife; widowed at 29,...She is really having a hard time not knowing about what happens after death. She needs more comfort than the small amount that I could give..... I left a message for the Bishop of my old ward...and the missionaries too...I just know that she could use the extra prayers. I know his dad and sister are active LDS and they will help as much as they can...but they have their own grief to deal with...and his mom is going to need extra prayers too....I know she will have a hard time dealing with his death. Any prayers offered will be appreciated in his families behalf. Lindy Quote

StrawberryFields Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 Oh Lindy,Please do update us when you can and this is all I have come up with so farhttp://tv.ksl.com/index.php?nid=6&sid=101839An American Marine was killed in a non-combat incident Saturday in Anbar province, which includes Ramadi and Fallujah, the U.S. military said. A mortar round also injured six police and four Iraqis in a separate attack Sunday near the Iraqi central bank in Baghdad. This was all I could find on the subject today. After speaking with Lindy last night the family just isn't getting any details. She did say something about an explosion...that is the non-combat incident? Quote
Jenda Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Lindy, I am very sorry to hear this. I will ask a friend who has some connections if he can get me this type of information. God bless. Quote
Lindy Posted June 22, 2004 Author Report Posted June 22, 2004 RAMADI, Iraq - Insurgents gunned down four U.S. Marines west of Baghdad on Monday, A U.S. Army soldier was killed Monday and seven others were wounded in a mortar attack in north-central Baghdad, Four U.S. servicemen killed in Iraq ambush Monday June 21st 2004 ................................. Many have died before and I'm sure that many more will give their lives before this is over..... My heart goes out to all the families of those who gave their lives, or had their lives taken from them. There are so many more to pray for, I shake my head and dry my tears. So many families and friends who are mourning the passing of each of them. Each one leaves behind a life that was led, a love that was shared, and when you put a name to the serviceman or woman....it just hits home that much more. They released the name of the face that I knew..so I will post it on the board now... USMC Staff Sgt. Marvin Best.... Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines unit I feel very humble while reading the accounts of others who died, knowing that they have names and faces that others know as well. Quote
