Thanks for the very warm welcomes/welcome backs! :) Pam ~ yes, my dh and I met online, but not on LDSTalk. We both joined LDSTalk about 6 months or so after we got married. Maureen ~ we're doing well. How are you and yours? I think of you whenever I "talk" to Dionne or read her blog. :)

Yes, I've been "liahonagirl" for my entire existence on message boards I think . . . :) Thank you all so much for the kind welcomes . . .

Hello! My husband (enlightenme) and I used to post fairly regularly here back when it was LDSTalk. Not sure if any of you will remember or not . . . :) My name is Kate, and I'm from Alberta, Canada. I'm married to a wonderful man named James and we have an 8 year old son named Christopher. I'm a part-time nanny by "profession". I was born and raised having a knowledge of the Gospel of Christ. I'm active in the Church, and serve as our ward's Music Chair right now. Not sure what else to say right now really, so I'll sign off by saying "see you on the boards!" :)

So Mr. Advocate -- It would seem that you are a strict follwer of the Law of Moses . . . does this mean you believe in blood sacrifice too?

But isn't the issue here choice . . . sure plenty of men who didn't want to be fathers end up paying child support, but in those cases, they willingly participated in the sex act. With rape . . . ? I say a man who was raped shouldn't be held accountable for actions he had absolutely no control over.

woohoo Faerie . . . congrats to you, the dh, and the little sweetie for making it here!

I am glad that they are doing that. I personally hope to be able to contribute some from my husband's paycheque tomorrow towards relief . . . It's so sad to me when so many of our brothers and sisters are suffering. Now that my husband's pay will be more than we need for the bare necessities, I want to contribute more to fast offerings, etc. Everyone doing their part helps.

right on . . . short women rock!

Ahh -- that'd be the explanation . . . I'd already signed up for their newsletter.

Interesting . . . I see nowhere where it asks me for my email or zip code (not that I have one anyways) . . .

We did the "Secret Santa" thing last year for a less-fortunate family we know. This year, we are considering waiting to do our "Christmas service" until later on in the new year, when people might not be expecting it as much. We're not sure. But we have loved providing service to those around us. Truly the meaning of Christmas is found in Christ-like giving! :)

I think the key to why perhaps lies in the subtitle to the Book of Mormon itself . . . it is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" . . . an additional witness . . .

there is a rumour out there that he just . . . ? just what? *very confuzzled*

So should a 12 year old be allowed to fight for her/hisr country because s/he would be allowed to drive at 16?

iamalighthouse's nickname brings to mind being a good example which is a wonderfully gentle reminder to all of us! :)
-
So does this mean that my 4 year old son who is more worthy than any of us on the board should be allowed to take out HIS endowments? Or am *I* evil because I will not allow him to?

Found out something interesting whilst on holidays these past several weeks. Ken's grandfather works at the Seattle Temple with my grandfather.

I sit corrected for now . . . or at least aware that I may likely be wrong . . . Faerie has given excellent advice . . . :)

With a cancellation of sealing, wouldn't the sealing of the children to the 2 of you also be of no force? I would think that any subsequent sealing to take place it would be possible to have the children sealed to you . . . I'm honestly not sure . . . talking to your bishop about this one would be the best idea imho.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I believe the objections were being raised that the draft law would be ammended to make a period of service MANDATORY for all. There are laws in some European nations where a period (a year or 2) of military service is mandatory for all young people. As far as putting a draft into play at such time is necessary, that's what's been going on for years, and I think it's reasonable. However, I'm not sure I would support a mandatory period of service . . . haven't really thought of it much yet though . . . ps -- thank you faerie for posting the link to the other article, and to you lurker for bringing the item to our attention in the first place.
