  1. I agree with Pam, I don’t care what the tenth gets used for, for I know that the leadership of this church will not waste what rightfully belongs to the Lord. These men are in the full time service of the Lord and need to be able to function as such, whether that is derived from tithe, investments, etc is irrelevant, fortunately I only have to concern myself with what I do with the other 90 % of my income that’s left
  2. As another thought, should the country adapt to the people that immigrate there or should the people adapt to the country? Maybe it would be wise to see if the country you want to immigrate too is tolerant towards your ideologies and all that other stuff you want to bring with you I always taught my children “ when in Rome do as the Romans”
  3. What a sad day it would be if the US constitution is changed
  4. Yes I agree with it all, atrocities are committed without a real religious base in countries, Germany with the Jews is correct it was a political party namely the Nazi’s, people don’t always agree with a political ideology therefore they will become part of the resistance. Neighboring countries will not allow the same bloodshed in their country, therefore we have refugees. We had the Rwanda genocide which was not religious based at all but an ethnic cleansing. Up in Nigeria there are regular clashes between Muslims and Christians, we can mention Kosovo, one would think that in this modern day we would be able to get over issues of religious intolerance and ethnical backgrounds that we have matured and learned from mistakes from the past. I assume that if the antichrist has to come along he would have to get the whole world to join under a united theme, either religion or none religion, it might even be a blending of everything to suit the temporal needs of everyone The thing that worries me is we will become like the people of old, we will have the prophecies or signs but might misinterpret the moment they happen or come about, and we might be blinded by subtle falsehoods, missing the bigger picture because we are so preoccupied by what is happening everywhere else but home
  5. I think religion, as that is the one thing that is practiced across the world, makes it easier to shirk responsibility and to get people to perform atrocities with a false sense of justification. With religion as a base even if the religions differs, the underlying structure of various religions can be used to create one world religion, borrow here, lend there, etc kind of effect. Ethnic group violence is usually bound by country borders, but religion can be used to unit people across borders, but that is only what I think
  6. Yep I think that’s what scares me the most
  7. Uniting the factions would be great for them but, claiming a living prophet I would err on the side of caution. If they claimed a living prophet and his message is war and hatred that in itself could become a problem with fanatics. It’s easy for a minority to rule a majority as was evident in our own history in South Africa and in Pakistan with the Taliban ruling the majority of Pakistan. People might unit but the results are mostly short lived, there has to be a real change in heart. I always look at our own prophet’s their messages are of love and understanding one for another, the fruits of their labor is good and glorifies our Heavenly Father
  8. Well at least now we know why our prophets have encouraged us to study scriptures and all good books, so that we can’t be fooled into a one side ideology, as is evident with this poor guy, Living prophets just can’t live without them. Suppose this is as good enough of a reason to get the gospel out there as any
  9. I am no expert, but are you sure that this is the correct place to try and address this situation. If and I emphasize IF you husband has a problem the advise you might get here is not from experts but rather from good intention people. It seems like you are building a wall of suspicion and he is building a wall of protection, this could lead to major problems in a young marriage of 6+ years.
  10. I dont know! Did I think that??
  11. Has anybody jet figured out why any anti Mormon that quotes the bible against Mormonism has never read the following passage in the bible Mark 9:38-40 "38 ¶ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. 39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. 40 For he that is not against us is on our part."
  12. Hallo wie getz? and welcome
  13. I want to add my support for Elder Holland. I think it’s been proven over and over that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. This is how I view it as a Mormon, no man has told me so and no man will tell me otherwise! I am proud of the men that stand at the helm of the LDS church, men of integrity and good sober moral standards, I wasn’t their when the Prophet Joseph was martyred or when the press was destroyed and must base all my assumptions about the prophet Joseph on all the material I have read about him, good and bad. By now I think if there was any concrete proof that The Book OF Mormon was false, the anti-Mormons would have ridden that wave over and over and this religion would not be here today. I was thought in the church that we respect all people irrespective of their shortcomings. No need to try and proof them wrong or right, every man and woman has the right to make their own choices:)
  14. Now asking others how they came to know God exists is like going to church because your parents went to church! If you really want to know if God exists then I suggest reading James 1:5. Joseph Smith did and he got an answer
  15. Well it seems we are not always alone in the world with our family problems. My wife and I have also had social services rope us in as her sister is an alcoholic and they removed her children as she is also in an abusive relationship. You are doing an excellent job it seems as you are putting the right foundations down in their development stage as they are only 2 and 3 years old. The best advice I can give you is to follow your instincts to parenting. Small kids will bit and I know of parents that have bitten their children back if the child bit them ( I know this is weird) personally I would have their teeth extracted(LOL), but on a serious note we stopped ours by giving them time out or taking privileges away. As to the mother I can only imagine as to what she must be going through, whether it is drugs or an abusive situation or financial, she would still struggle with the fact that she has lost her children so the best might be to try and understand and tolerate her (even if it is a bit abusive) as to give her a chance to come to grips with her problem. My sister in law is not a member and her children aged 15, 12 and 8 want to get baptized, you won’t believe how much excitement this has caused in her live!! The Alphabet and numbers are a long repetitive game we played with the children singing songs from children programs and off course Barney and a lot of visual stimulation Good Luck
  16. Next they will deny that there was a great flood and then that there is a Savior and then ……..
  17. To me I read the W of W with the Saviors words to take upon ourselves his yoke. To me this implies to lead a simple live and not to concern myself with the world of today. There are things I need in this world but there are something’s I don’t need and should not bother with. I think the word of wisdom helps to weed out a lot of confusion as to what is good and what isn’t, especial in today’s day and age where if you do a Google search you will find many pros and cons fort the same thing e.g. red meat consumption. I personally think that the W of W is a warning to keep our minds and body’s clean from anything as the war between good and evil are fought with the mind and words. (Craftiness of speech) In the old days the folks would settle a dispute with their fist and guns; today we try and outwit each other with our knowledge and we need a sharp mind to defend ourselves against any propaganda, but that’s just me
  18. This is going to make for an interesting trial
  19. The problem is how many non-members will now associate us with this group because they are ill informed?
  20. Texas seems to be a problem state! While viewing this on the five am news I nearly choked when I heard the church likes to be called Mormons officially?? I am trying to get hold of the news piece to make absolutely sure I heard correctly
