  1. Right. The conversation would almost HAVE to be: "Hey, what are you doing?" "Driving" [texting continues] [accident ensues]
  2. I just finished reading this last week. It had a lot of good insights, and clear explanations of things I'd believed about Heavenly Father and His Plan for a long time, but I wish it had included more scriptural support for it's arguments (which I know are there), and less quotes from philosophers and poets. If someone wanted to say that the LDS view of God is a man-made view of God, this book would be a good argument in that favor, IMO.
  3. Okay, here's an odd one. I had a dream last night that I had to go to a work party. I put on a knee length dress and was ready to go when I decided to change my garment bottoms from cotton poly to dri silk. I get to the party and right in the middle of the crowd realize I'd put on my midcalf bottoms that I wear with my skinny jeans instead of the knee length ones. I had about 6 inches of garment leg showing plainly! Only a Mormon would have a nightmare like that!
  4. The only one I listen to regularly is The Cultural Hall. It's obviously an LDS themed podcast, but not always in a spiritual way. They interview interesting Mormon and non Mormon persons, as well as discuss incidences of mormons in the news. That sounds boring, but it's actually a really fun podcast to listen to. :)
  5. Yup. Only once have I attended church at a building that only housed one ward. My current ward shares the building with two other wards.
  6. Just because there's no meeting house in a particular area doesn't mean the congregation doesn't meet locally. When my DH was growing up in Canada his little branch met in the gymnasium of the local middle school until they had enough members to justify the expense of a small meeting house.
  7. Read in Exodus the directions given to the Israelites on how to construct the Tabernacle, keeping in mind that they were in the middle of the wilderness. Also, my guess would be that is the Celestial room chandelier that costs that much, not all, or even most of them.
  8. If you believe your website-building skills are your "mission", have you asked the Lord how you can start on it now? Have you prayed about what steps you can take to further those skills, and how to find opportunities to apply them to the spreading of the Gospel? If you truly believe that this is the mission the Lord wants you to serve, then it's time to start "serving", and let the fruits of your labors speak for themselves, when it comes to others opinions about it. :)
  9. Yes, you can be a liberal and be a Mormon. Some members may believe they're incompatible, but their opinion doesn't really have any weight in any persons right to be a member. You have a Testimony of the restored Gospel? You're in. Myself and my parents are Democrats. My Dad has been the Gospel Doctrine teacher in his ward for many years, and is currently the financial clerk. I'm currently teaching the youth in Sunday School, but have held callings in Primary and Relief Society as well. Nobody has ever asked me how I vote when extending me those callings, or in any other Bishop interviews.
  10. Thank you, fixed it. :) (I'm also dress shopping, obviously. )
  11. Which sketches did you see filmed?
  12. Actually, I was thinking maybe more of this laugh.(cut ahead to 2:19 if you don't want to watch the whole thing)
  13. Dear Husband
  14. This Saturday DH and I will LITERALLY be attending the 7pm filming of StudioC!!! I'm determined to get Matt's autograph.
  15. I asked my DH to ask me on our first date. There's no law (or doctrine, IMO) against a girl making the first move, and I heard several of my guy friends in YSA say they actually wish more girls would take the initiative. I'd take the advice you heard in church as just that: advice. Culturally, yes, typically guys do the asking, but it's culture, not Doctrine. It's no sin to ask a guy out.
  16. I've started listening to the Scriptures on my Kindle while doing my hair and make-up. I can get through 2-4 chapters that way, and the voice is very soothing. I'm also working on my Personal Progress, so that allows me opportunity to do more topical Scripture study.
  17. Interested, if you could shift the location about 9 hours to the West. :)
  18. DH and I are going to the Temple tomorrow! (separate sessions, but still...) It's always a happy day when you can get to the Temple :)
  19. I was thinking that, but it seemed too obvious. I wanted to give him a less "faithful sidekick" roll.
  20. Oh! Tom Hiddleston (Loki from Thor) as Amalikiah or Zerahemna. (or any one of the Nephite-turned-Lamanite Kings/Generals from the book of Alma)
  21. I'd like to see Sean Astin in there somewhere. Maybe one of Nephi's younger brothers? Or Enos.
  22. Lehi: the actor who originally played Dumbledore (yes, I know he's dead) King Noah: Tim Curry
  23. This video is going viral on YouTube. It was at 100k views this afternoon, and now it's over a million. Pretty funny!
