  1. So they say those parts slower now since we were to dense to get it before?
  2. Huh. I wonder if this is the reason for the new session times at my local Temple (also with the firm statement that you be there ON TIME for your session. NO exceptions). I'll have to go to the Temple soon to see it. :)
  3. But Jesus is still a part of his faith. He didn't abandon belief in him all together, just the Christian understanding of Him. Jesus is revered as a Prophet in Islam. Why would he write a book to degrade a Prophet?
  4. That's just what I was thinking. You have two young people having to support *four* older persons. Even if they're perfectly, emotionally healthy people, the health issues and living issues that can come with age can be a heavy burden for that couple to carry without any help from siblings.
  5. A religious scholar writes a book about a religious figure. I'm really having a hard time seeing the controversy here, regardless of the author's faith journey. Besides, BOTH Christians AND Muslims believe in Jesus, so I really don't see how he would "need" to convert to Christianity in order to give him "clout" to write a book on Him. Does a Christian need to convert to Judaism before he's allowed to write a book about Moses?
  6. I'm surprised that she was surprised that a Muslim world write a book about Jesus Christ, even without his credentials. They believe in Him too. (They believe he was a prophet rather than a messiah, but do believe in many of his teachings, the virgin birth, etc.)
  7. His voice actually reminds me of another performer, Mika, which reminds me of another song with a positive message.
  8. Admittedly, I don't have much experience with retirement accounts. DH and I have one, but other than the regular automatic withdrawal it takes from his paycheck, I have no idea how it actually works.
  9. In addition to being cautious about doing business with church members, I think it would also be a lesson in providing them with all of the money for the work upfront, rather than spreading it out as the project goes on. There can be less feelings of urgency to move forward with the work if they already have the "fruits of their labors" resting in their bank account. I hope you're able to find a reputable and affordable person to finish the work! And limited awkwardness.
  10. Trip the Light, and the music video made that goes along with it. If you ever need your faith in humanity restored...
  11. George Alexander Louis! As the wife of a George, I have to commend their taste in names! (and also irreverently think "I will hug him, and squeeze him, and call him George!" )
  12. And Prince Charles' name wasn't announced for a month!
  13. When I was in that situation I volunteered at a thrift store that raised money for a local homeless shelter. It was great when I became pregnant with my first while still volunteering there, as I got first dibs on buying any good-condition baby stuff that got donated.
  14. So, anybody want to guess at names?? I've seen some suggestions thrown out there, such as George John Paul Ringo.
  15. I'm really happy for them. :) I was hoping it would be a girl, with the rule change and all, but seeing as I have two sons of my own, I know they've got an exciting journey ahead of them. :) (and seeing as it's a boy, we'll hopefully also be spared from constant fashion critiques of the little princesses' clothes )
  16. I think you'd have the new fastest growing religion in the world if you had one that sought to destroy imbecils.
  17. I just recently moved away from Washington, and we held Boy Scout and Girl's Camp fundraisers yearly at our church for several years.
  18. Took the kids to see Turbo today, and saw Despicable Me 2 on Saturday. I enjoyed DM2 better than Turbo, but Turbo was still pretty cute! My kids laughed a lot with both movies, and it wasn't just cheesy jokes that only kids would laugh at. I'd recommend both. :)
  19. A Testimony doesn't have to be all-or-nothing, or "good enough". We're allowed to have a testimony of somethings while still lacking a testimony of others. The Gospel is a huge thing to grasp. "Line up line, precept upon precept" and all that, is how we learn and build a Testimony. Matt 17:20 ...verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
  20. When I went through a period of questioning and doubt a few years ago, it was time spent in the Temple that helped me cling to what bit of Testimony I had left. The Spirit was just SO strong there, it gave me the strength to endure the challenges I was facing, and have times of peace a midst the turmoil. ETA: Go ahead and meet with your Bishop and be honest. My Bishop knew my concerns but also felt that access to the Temple would be more of a help to me than denied access.
  21. Then you'll love this then: Giant Statue of Colin Firth
  22. By all means keep them up. I can't imagine why it would be inappropriate to do so. It was the start of your marriage, regardless of where it occurred. My grandparents were not Sealed in the Temple until they were grandparents (they were not converts, but had struggles with becoming Temple worthy), and they still kept their original wedding photos on display, along with the picture of themselves and all their family standing in front of the Oakland Temple on the day they were finally Sealed.
  23. 7 out of 25 (don't even know what a DTR is) Don't much like pinterest, can't stand the bachelorette, I like unique names but NOT made-up franken-names, I DO have several lace-trim camis, and I did wear workout clothes to an 80's-themed Halloween Zumba class.
  24. Still just an accident, even if feelings *had* been aroused. You weren't actively searching to be aroused, and when you realized what was going on you put the kibosh on it. That doesn't sound like breaking the law of chastity at all.
