  1. The answer to your question is yes I have but not a lds seminary. I am not lds. But when I teach bible studies this is how I teach them to study.
  2. One more question for you digital that I personally am curious about is. You seem to be a very bight guy. You seem to read alot and ask lots of questions. And I would bet that this is not the first forum that you have asked these kind of questions to right? Which is a good thing in my opinion..but have you ever just done a in depth study on who Jesus is? What did he say about himself? What did others say about him? In the bible and not in the bible..and how he compares to the world's reglions of what they believe..how he is different or the same...It would interesting for you to do that..and I think if you did it with an open mind to the possiblity but using logic and reason to support it you will have all your answers met.
  3. Which there have been..many of them.
  4. Positive Therapeutic Effects of Intercessory Prayer in a Coronary Care Unit Population Page 1 You can look into the study if you wish. As far as God not answering a prayer. You are correct that sometimes it is God's will to let people die. My dad was killed very young. Just because we pray for something does not mean that God will answer it the way we would like. Sometimes Digital I am very thankful that God did not answer my prayers exactly how I wanted it to happen because I can't see my whole life and see what He sees. Sometimes it has been years later that I saw what God was doing in a situation. But I was only giving you...1. Science evidence that prayer works and 2. A personal account where I saw God work..a think no human can explain...3. I work in the medical field..there is no greater place to this carried out then here.
  5. Probably the experiment cited most often by advocates of prayer is the one performed by Byrd, a cardiologist at San Francisco General Medical Center. According to his report, he studied 393 patients between August 1982 and May 1983. He divided the group into 192 patients who were prayed for, and 201 who were not prayed for. [7] He reported that, among other things, the people who were prayed for were five times less likely to develop pulmonary edema. None required endotracheal intubation, and fewer patients died. okay here is one example for you Digital that prayer works..but for me..prayer/faith worked to bring two people I love back from the dead and all the docters looked on with amazement when they had already said they are gone. Prayer/Faith is not determined by what we percieve are the correct answers. Sometimes God does not answer. I have been in that situation. I about gave up on faith altogether too until God showed me that this was not about me and he is much bigger then you can ever imagine and once I humbled myself to that point then he answered my prayers. Read the book of Job for a great example of this.
  6. That;s okay did you have a good sermon at all in the last month that you want to share?
  7. of those of you that have read the bible more then once. How many of you then have taken it and done just a study on it one book at a time. Taking your time to digest just one book at a time and not reading it to get through it. asking yourself these kind of questions after each chapter.. Who is the author? When was it written? Who is the author writing to? Are there any promises to be made? Are there any comparison or contrasts to be observed? How does this chapter apply to me? Cross reference to other parts of the bible to get an idea if the idea was expressed somewhere else? Just a couple of questions of suggestions. There may be more even better thoughtful questions.
  8. Well, since you asked..:) We actually talked about how God has the nations on his heart and how the bible talks about the kingdom of God. Some people are going to malaysia and we showed viedo of what they are going to be doing over their and ministering to them. It was a pretty powerful service in thinking about how sometimes churches get caught up in what they are doing but forgetting the bigger picture.
  9. Do you guys care to share what you learned at church today?
  10. That's it i am changing my color too. how do I do that?
  11. lol...I think the name was lost and found.. hahah..but now my gender is restored..Yes, the best revelation yet.
  12. Thank you I could not remember.
  13. You have made your point snow. If anybody else wants to look into they can. The site rebuttels your article. I think you are right people do write up articles to support their pre-concieved ideas and ignore all that doesn't support their belief. This goes for scientists as well. This would go also to those who try to discredit the bible. Thanks for your input though.
  14. hmm..since you can't see my mannerisms...nope thirty something female with family and very much all girl. Anyways, that is funny.
  15. thank you jenamarie. I was going to say something.
  16. Snow, I do not know why you are insisting on putting me in a corner. I responded above to the original comment saying that I should not have written original. I am aware of all the fragements we have in possession. Scroll up. The revelations misrepresentation thing is a matter of your interpertation of the verses in revelations but I can see how you can see it that way. And bible archeology I am looking into your arguments for validity of them. Snow, all of my questions help me better understand lds faith and teachings. They are not a personal attack on you or anybody else. They are arguments that I have heard on lds or they are things I am personally confused about.
  17. no I was replying to snow.
  18. This just a general thank you to all of you that have so patiently answered each of my questions. Some of you were so thoughtful with your answers and you caused me to go and look more into your answers. I will add all of your insights to further my understanding of lds so that for me personally I do not spread lies about lds doctrine. Things I learned about Lds that I did not know before: 1. I am encourged by your drive for truth 2. Some of the things in LDS that do get made fun of by outsiders is really due to not really understanding why it is your doctrine. 3. You seem to know your scriptures much more then I would have originaly thought.:) Good thing. 4. I am encourged by your family values and have witnessed this in person as well. I am so happy I moved to a mormon community. I look forward to all the friendships I will make and have made in this faith and I am sure I will learn more as I get to know them even more. So, thank you again to those of you that wanted to respectfully educate me on what you believed to be true. :)
  19. Just for the record as I reviewed my own post. I should not have written original. You are correct. I should have said thousands of fragments or something like that or even given exact numbers. But anybody can do a google search and get that information. as far as your other argument. I have never heard that argument before and I will look into its validity.
  20. I'm not sure why you are being rude. I type really fast. I will slow down and make sure that my grammer and punctuation fit your expectations.
  21. I agree with your definition of subjective. :) That is what I meant by most post...I remember one young lady who was a buddist. I asked why she became a buddist. Her answer "It felt right" These are the kind of answers I was making a point to.
  22. lol...this is funny our rebate check paid taxes..
