  1. That's a nice thought. Everything with God is as one eternal now – he sees the entire future all at one time. The future to God is just as real to him as it is before it unfolds. Everything has already happened. You and I died a long time ago and are living eternally. God sees it all. Paul O
  2. Yep, it's coming. The day of the Lord is at hand. I've always believed that prophecy. Paul O
  3. You guys haven't even begun to hear me complain. If I was to unload my complaints about all the cra8 that goes on at church it would make your heads spin. But, I'm a good boy, and won't do that. Paul O
  4. Good thinking, Maureen. Paul O
  5. Several years ago in a previous ward the youth were taking over the whole meeting. It was turning into an entertainment show where you could practically blow whistles and bubbles. The bishop finally nipped it in the bud and told the youth to knock it off. From that time on there weren’t very many youth testimonies. The bishop also said that little kids shouldn’t bear their testimonies with mommy or daddy whispering what to say in their ears. Either they stand on their own or don’t come up. Needless to say, mommy and daddy still brought them up and whispered in their ears the same old thing. I noticed that the bishop never said Amen to any of those testimonies. That taught me a great lesson: Don’t let the tail wag the dog. The church is still true. :) Paul O
  6. I have to agree with Snow. I’ve seen too many Fast and Testimony Meetings that tend to make me think I’m a member of the Church of God, Nuts, Flowers, and Candy. I can’t stand it when men get up and start bawling - and the women drip all over the place and reveal their private faces in front of everyone. Get a grip! I've seen some men bawl to the point that it makes me want to tell him to pull himself up by his bootstraps and start acting more dignified. Travel logs and silly insipid stories are a waste of my time. I want to hear about relationships with Jesus Christ! Tell me about Joseph Smith and how the restoration of the gospel has made a difference in one's life. Give me substance, please. If I don't feel moved by a testimony, I don't say Amen. It's that simple. Paul O
  7. I think Rev 3:21 is pretty high up on my list. Paul O
  8. Beat it. Paul O
  9. Paul O Paul ... you might just be joking but it doesn't come across that way. Try a little subtlety in your insults.
  10. Amen! Paul O
  11. Do you honestly think you can seperate me from the love of Christ? You have no power here, troll. Get lost. Paul O ← Now now Paul you know I ain't no troll---so be nice---grow up and stop the name calling. post a legitimate post once in awhile I wouldn't have the attitude I do towards you. you said anything about doing anything to you----your doing it yourself, besides I was just making a comment ← Troll, I'm too old to grow up. Gaining a positive attitude from you about me would require me to denounce my religion. I see right through you. I don't like you one bit. So, go away, please. I'd much rather carry on a conversation with Snow then you. Paul O
  12. Snow, the scholars can screw off. I don't live by every word that comes from the mouth of scholars from universities. I don't care about their credentials. I don't care about how I compare with them so you might as well stop trying to make me look like an insignificant worm. I have better answers then they do, so they can go jump in the lake together. I am right and they are wrong. Now, give me the name of the king in Facsimile No. 3. Please use any of the learned scholars you refer to in your post. If you and your scholars can't give me the name of the king then it's clear your scholarly skills are wanting. Give me the name, Snow. Paul O
  13. No, but 15,000 hits on my website isn't all that bad. I'm convinced that Nibley's legacy won't be as wonderful as you hope it will be. The vindication of the EA&G will pretty much do him in. Oh how the learned think they are so wise!!!!! And how quick are sheep to run after them! You're a sheep, Snow, in Nibley's pen. Paul O
  14. Apparently you have never seen my library nor even considered that I own one. You make assumptions and think they are true. Poor dear, you. Paul O
  15. Do you honestly think you can seperate me from the love of Christ? You have no power here, troll. Get lost. Paul O
  16. I've not been published in any of those sources you named above and neither do I care to. My website is my operation and I do things MY way. When is the last time those guys from the sources you mentioned told you the name of the king written above the hand of Isis in Facsimile No. 3? Since they are so smart, they can supply you the name? How about Rhodes or Gee? Can they read the name? No, they can't because they aren't smart enought like I am. Gee and Rhodes should get down on their knees and beg me to explain things to them. But they won't, because they are too proud of their status and think they are high minded because of their learning. NonLDS Egyptologists Juan Castillos told me point blank that my apologetic paradigm and ideas are the only one that can possibly justify the LDS BofA. I get mail all the time from LDS people thanking me for the answers I have provided. One man told me I saved his testimony; oh well. I constantly get letters from the antis thanking me for being honest on some keys issues. Most all of the letters are positive and it seems that my site has really helped a lot of people. From what I have gathered the entire nonLDS world knows that Nibley provided false presentations in his effort to keep the sheep in HIS pen. Nibely was a cult leader with a cult following. Paul O
  17. I've received countless emails that disagree with you on this point. You're just being mean. If you understood the purpose of my website you'd see it's a grass roots effort to go around the university scholars. The scholars are soaking in pride and error. You'd grant a free pass for every scholar, would you? He certainly is trained, I grant that much. The GA's leave it alone! They left it to Nibley to preach his own word on a subject that is wide open to interpretation. Nibley was no prophet!!! Some of his opinions are rotten to the core and show disrepect to Joseph Smith and his brethren. You're being silly and like two teeth from a snake you missed me. You can't hurt me Snow. You're over your head. I've got a bag of salt and will glady pour it in later. Paul O
  18. Traveler, When the sons of God shouted for joy at the creation of the earth you can imagine there was a lot of talk about this earth and its creation. The same applies today. These are the last days when knowledge is poured out on the face of the earth. Discussion generates further knowledge among the Father’s children. Glad to get to know you. Paul O
  19. Please, Use the tools that have been given to us and find some meaning! FACSIMILE NO. 2 Fig. 5. Is called in Egyptian Enish-go-on-dosh; this is one of the governing planets also, and is said by the Egyptians to be the Sun, and to borrow its light from Kolob through the medium of Kae-e-vanrash, which is the grand Key, or, in other words, the governing power, which governs fifteen other fixed planets or stars, as also Floeese or the Moon, the Earth and the Sun in their annual revolutions. This planet receives its power through the medium of Kli-flos-is-es, or Hah-ko-kau-beam, the stars represented by numbers 22 and 23, receiving light from the revolutions of Kolob. Jah-oh-eh Flo-ees Flosisis Kliflosisis VehKliflosisis Paul O
  20. Snow, If you take a close look at Nibley’s approach from a certain angle you will find deception in his presentations. Deception is something that is common to many a man, including Paul H. Dunn who lied to the whole church in effort to promote his idea of faith. I posted some threads on the FAIR Board (now in the archives) demonstrating how Nibley uses deception to lead his flock. No one countered them. I’m like rain coming down on the Nibley party but my conscience tells me to speak out and offer better advice. Take it or leave it. Trust me, I’m not crying just because YOU think I’m a crackpot. Later, when you come to terms with Nibley’s deception you’ll have a hard enough time then and won’t need me to rub it in. I’ll try not to do that. But then again, I’m unpredictable. Oh, and your argument above is silly, so much so, I'll not even bother with it! Paul O
  21. Please, Sure, I understand that. The 116 pages are GONE. But in the case of the BofA we have lots of evidence at hand that can be widely discussed and analyzed. “Were I an Egyptian, I would exclaim Jah-oh-eh, Enish-go-on-dosh, Flo-ees-Flos-is-is; [O earth! the power of attraction, and the moon passing between her and the sun.]” (Joseph Smith, Times & Seasons; November 1, 1843) Paul O
  22. Please, I think our brains are more powerful than we give credit. Revelation is important in comprehending the things of God but there is no reason to throw our hands up and say, “We can’t fathom these things because there is no revelation to do so”. We have to try, regardless of our shortcomings and inability to comprehend higher things. My personal ambition is to learn as much as I can and understand it in the process. If that somehow thwarts God’s plan then he can take a stick and beat me with it. I’m not going to let the mysteries scare me away into trying to get to the bottom of things. I’ve got a brain and I intend to use it. I encourage other brains to help me out. Of course, some brains will not want to get involved because they think these things are unattainable without a revelation. Gathering evidence and information is vital in building a case. If this is against God’s plan, then he will just have to smite me with a stick. But I don’t think it is against his plan. I’m not afraid. Are you afraid? Obviously you have to build your own faith based plan to carry you through the unexplained mysteries and apparent contradictions. I don't fault you for that but I do fault you for not making an effort to search the mysteries or to hold someone else back who is trying to search the mysteries. I don't care if the whole world is against me. I will continue to search the mysteries of the Joseph Smith papyri, come hell or high water. Truth is what makes us free and I want more truth, not just back burners to simmer faith in pots and pans. Give me anwers or give me death. I'll never be satisfied with the silly answers that BYU offeres. That's why I set my own little shop up and went out on my own limb. Paul O
  23. Traveler, I love the Pearl of Great Price. I don’t know what I’d do without it. The Book of Moses reveals some very significant things. The BofA, as presently constituted offers some interesting insight into astronomy, but I think we would have a lot more had Joseph continued the translation as he promised. I think the Egyptian Alphabet & Grammar plays an important part of the Book of Abraham experience. The Explanations of Facsimile No. 2 are certainly related to the EA&G, as are other points that are less known to the average LDS student. Jah-oh-eh Flo-ees Flosisis Kliflosisis VehKliflosisis Kolob Paul O
  24. Please, Well, there are some important issues that I disagree with Nibley, largely the value of the Egyptian Alphabet & Grammar which he coined as the “Kirtland Papers”, moreoever, the idea the real papyrus is missing. The fact is, Nibley was only a school teacher and never obtained the level of a general authority, or perhaps his works would have taken even a greater cult following within the church. Apparently you haven’t been able to target any deception from his writings? His tactics are pretty obvious to me. Nonmembers of the church can spot them really easy because they have no special allegiance to him or consider him to be inspired, or honest. I don’t blame the antis, because in my book, trust is something that is earned, not just handed out. Nibley never earned my trust. There are too many red flags and red fishes in his work. Paul O
  25. harrypotter, Your points are well taken and I can’t argue with good sense. My dissatisfaction with Nibley grew as I made what I thought was an honest attempt to look at honesty. Here are a couple of links where I analyzed some of his suggestive reasoning. I thought I was being pretty FAIR about it. Hugh Nibley Hugh Nibley strikes again! Paul O
