The respectful thing would be for your brother to NOT invite his LDS family rather than placing them in an uncomfortable situation. Perhaps he could send a thoughtful letter telling them that he loves them and respects their religious convictions and maybe this would avoid damaging relationships further.

Or maybe change education to a system that teaches a kid how to actually do something worth a competitive wage. It is not a question of low income earners paying more taxes, it is about a fair tax system that isn't punitive toward those who achieve. Too bad the so called wealthy are so demonized, yet they fund the government handouts and subsidies. Our tax system really sticks it to the middle class folks that are not rich but are not poor.

On a different note....I bought a green dot laser for the Glock 17 at a gun show this week-end. Actually, could use it on the Sig as well.....pretty sweet.

It would be a sad day that I had to use my firearms to injure or kill and would only do so in defense of my life or to save someone else. Otherwise, my firearms are primarily for shooting targets and becoming more skillful at shooting and of course self defense.

I see law abiding citizens exercising their constitutional rights as a very good thing. Gun enthusiasts tend to be very knowledgeable and safety conscience and promote safe ownership and operation of guns. Accidents happen and that is unfortunate and I am all for better training as is the NRA. Responsible gun ownership is certainly an individual thing, but, so is owning a swimming pool or driving a car.

Gun ownership is on the rise in the USA...precisely because of a more educated and free society.

Standards and learning on the rise you say....according to whose standards? My wife is a Principle at a high school, taught math for 16 years and authored two series of math text books and she would likely greatly disagree with you as would I. As far as gun ownership goes...I do not hunt or kill but enjoy shooting and also am thrilled by the freedom to own guns and have the ability to defend my self and family as well as being part of the intended purpose of the right to bear arms which is to defend ourselves against tyranny and oppressive government.( like England which we whooped a couple of times)

Sigh...I spent some time reading his web site and many others over the years. All of them have some very common elements including concern over controversial (so-called) church history, anachronisms, mistreatment of women, gays, minorities and of course intellectuals. While I do not not wish to diminish the honest seeker struggling with their testimony, I do feel very hard towards those that have made themselves and their agenda their own personal church that seeks to lead others.....somewhere. (Kate Kelly) But, the thing that is ALWAYS missing is any mention of the Holy Spirit and conversion. We know that the things of God are understood ONLY by the power of the Holy Spirit. I would not be a member if it were not for Spiritual experience....would any of you? Yet, in dealing with the pain and confusion or concern over perceived imperfections in the Lords church and the brethren, it is not mentioned. I spent time scratching my head and feeling a bit of panic over history etc many years ago, but it was the Holy Spirit that whispered to me that it was ALL true. Our testimonies and seeking to have the Spirit with us always is more important than anything else we do in life.....lest we be deceived.
