Oh I am so sorry !! I didn't know that. Please forgive me....

I don't know if this is a topic anyone will discuss but , I wanted to ask after reading a recent article off the web. It was by a Professor Toscano of the University of Utah. It was entitled " Is there a place for Heavenly Mother in Mormon Theology?" The article discusses the doctrinal basis for Heavenly Mother in LDS doctrine. But she talks about a survey done where the majority of LDS polled said that it was forbidden to talk about Her by the GA . But she goes on to say that no where though is there a statement from the GA that says this.... She made one statement that hit me and I was wondering what you all thought about it. Here is the statement; "While some regard the need for silence about the Heavenly Mother as reverance , absolute silence about Her does not protect Her , it erases Her." I am a new convert so if this post is taboo please have the mods delete it.

Hi Investigator!! Welcome to LDS net. I came here myself as an investigator a year ago and now as of a few weeks ago I am a member of the Church! I identify with so much of what you said, I too was looking for that missing piece of the puzzle. And, I too looked for it in all the wrong places with all the wrong peoples... So you are not alone. I can testify to you that the Book of Mormon is the truth and I am sure you are already sensng that as you read. This Church is amazing , so much of what the world fears about it is crazy. It is not a cult it is Christian in the truest sense of the word. Take your time and ask all the questions you want. There are so many wonderful knowledgeable people here who's only desire is to help. Bless you brother as you take this journey to find the missing pieces.:):):)

Hello Caspian , I know the shame , and the sense of lonliness you speak of because of abuse. I too was abused in too many disgusting ways to speak of. And , I am a recent convert to the Church. So you ask , What does the Spirit feel like and what it is to me. The Spirit is one of the Godhead and His mission is to show us the truth to help us to gain a testimony. Have you read the promise in Moroni 10:3-4? In this promise we are told to pray about the truth of the Book of Mormon. Now you also asked about prayer. All prayer is ,is talking to God as you talk to a good friend. There is no specific way to do it or secret formula. Just tell Him what's on your mind. And recovering from my abuse I learned that it's okay to become angry and yell at God. He does understand your pain. Heavenly Father has been there everytime you've gotten high or plastered. He may not like what your doing but He loves you very much! And , He has wept with you each time the pain has surfaced. You may have thought you were alone ... But , I testify to you He was there by your side! But, back to your question , What does it feel like??? It's a warm sense of knowing. When the Spirit reveals Himself to you , you have a sense of all is right with your world at that moment. It is really , really hard to put into mere words. It is something you must expierence first hand. All I can say is the promise in Moroni is true !! Please remember that Heavenly Father is just waiting for you to run back to Him. His arms are opened wide waiting for you to come to Him! And, also you can come to Him as you are. You don't need the mask that we hide behind as abuse survivors. He knows everything and yet He still loves us. If you need to talk ever please PM me okay?? Your in my prayers.

I don't want to sound New Agey .... But , be careful of the words you choose because they do make a difference. If you speak thoughts of self defeat eg." I have not reached greatness." Or, "my life is so hum drum" ect. ect. That's what you will reap. I agree with Dr. T I don't think you really understand how great you really are!!!:)

This thread has been going on for some time now. With the back and forth of , is the church doing enough and the whole is someone born homosexual or do they choose??? Here is the answer whether we like it or not!! Homosexuality is a sin. And as such it is incompatiable with Christianity. God has spoken through His holy scriptures and through His living Prophets. Hence it is settled... If a homosexual is willing to repent of this sin and come unto God and be made new. He/she is more than welcome to full membership in His holy Church. Perhaps they will be able to marry if not they will have to live a celibate life. But, their reward in the glories is no less than any other sinner. God loves all His children but like any good parent He can not sit by and watch His children destroy their lives. There are consequences when you break Heavenly Fathers Law. The only choice that is real is will you follow God or not .... It seems pretty simple to me.

Black LDS?
spiritseeker replied to Aesa's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
I think the main point is it is in the past. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we accept the authority of our Prophets and the revelations they receive. Perhaps we don't understand or always like what is revealed. But, ours is not always to understand but to follow in obedience. The point is Heavenly Father revealed to our Prophet that the time was over for the ban. And, I am thankful to God for His revelations. So , please stop -
Perhaps I am reading more into a certain post I read recently. But a member said that Church considers any single man over the age of 25 a "menace to society".... Is that true? I am anew member and I am 42 yrs. old. I have never been married. The reasons have some to do with my childhood and other things that I don't feel like putting out there right now. I guess my real question is are men who haven't married considered somehow less a member??? I desire to be married. I want to recieve the blessings that come with that but , I have never been real good at dating. I feel like no woman could ever love me with all I have been through.... And, being that I am 42 I feel like my marriage "clock" is ticking!:) Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

I believe the gift of healing is real. But I am with the side that says if you charge for a gift given to you by Heavenly Father. That's crossing a line that I believe will damage your eternal progression.

Church Investigates Proxy Baptism of President's Mother
spiritseeker replied to KeithLBrown's topic in General Discussion
I don't think you understand Lutheran about what our Church teaches. To begin with with the restoration of the Gospel came authentic Priesthood authority. Hence, we believe that any baptism done without said authority is unacceptable. Whether you accept it or not it is fundamental to our faith that our Church is true. We believe that even though a person has died and perhaps did not have a chance to accept the gospel or even did have the chance but didn't take advantage of it. They have another chance in the Spirit World. Think about the peoples who died before Christ's wonderful Atonement. Do you believe that they should be condemned for that? No, They get that chance in the Spirit World also. I think that is the most beautiful thing... Don't you?? So, anyway to get back to the point. We baptize for the dead because we believe there is no remission of sins without it. We perform all of the ordinances so that our ancestors and others may have the chance at Eternal progression. Now I am of the viewpoint that permission must be had before it is done proxy for someone. But , please understand we do these because we care not because we get anything out of it. It is truly a selfless act on our part. Now some may be overzealous but their hearts are in the right place. -
I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your responses. As a new member I find it so enlightening. I knew already of President Snow's vision. I am sort of a Lorenzo Snow buff. He played a part in my conversion. But that's a story for another thread... But the information provided is great!!!

Well, I guess all I can say is I pray you are wrong about there being LDS members who view fascism as favourable. I don't see how it can be compatible with church membership...
