  1. This poem is by Jewel: There is a pretty girl on the Face of the magazine And all I see is my dirty hands turning the page Little breasts attached to skinny ribs and hungry bellies determined legs persuasive swing careful hands she stands a greater threat to herself than the cigarette she consumes This poem hits home with so many of our teens....Wanting and yearning to be so....deathly thin...
  2. We actually did a small christmas this year and voted on living the meaning of it. We thought it to be better to have larger birthday parties instead...so not to take away from the true meaning of christmas. I was impressed that my children were excited, and even suggested to do secret santa work.......

  7. I think plural marriage was needed but like all things " they change do to need" I will not say some did not take it way out of control, but I believe it is what saved the church. There were so many men killed that were mormon, if it would not have been for that law, many of the woman would have been made to marry non-members in order to keep there land or they would have simply lost that land...this would have ened up with many of te members to have fallen away...Because of this law we still own alot of this land, and the church membership has grown instead of dwindled...I simply think it has helped to look at it in many ways..................
  8. I think you lost me there...... Christo: Keep the faith, maybe your mother is being tested, this could lead to her conversion as well. Everything happens with a purpose weather it is to strengthen us or give us time to grow spiritually, It will happen in his time.

  12. sgallon That is a little different than a person going in and killing a family, and you know it .........However like I said in my above post it would be all on how they had changed..allot go in there and come out te same...Others come out totally changed and I commend them for there hardwork.....But there are those who need stricter laws enforced...
  13. thank you outshined...I agree but most are not...most get all kinds of privledges.. And yes.I know what the inside of a prison looks like.....Sgallon I simply think we need tighter punishments, if they were so brutal people would be scared to committ those crimes.....
  14. So..What should we do with him? Should we intergrate him back in to society? Should we keep him in prison? What would be the best approach that he will not benifit from....? What approach would allow him to understand what he truly did, not only to those involved, but to there families as well? How can we ever have a system that works if we are constantly changing it out of fear or negotiations...When will these people ever take responsibility for there own actions? I'm more worried that if we don't do something others will think Hey....I'll get out, then I'll do it again.... But next time it might be someone in your family....weather it be a drive by at the mall, a school, a park ......It can happen any place any where. We shouldn't be at fear of what may happen if we do....We should be terrified at what may happen if we don't..........
  15. Hi guys...My family is from holland and these are the stories we were told growing up. I think it is very positive and teaches people to give selflessly.... Santa Claus: Where Did That Guy in the Red Suit Come From? The origin of Santa Claus depends on which country's story you choose to adopt. Santa Claus comes from the Dutch words "Sinter Klaas", which is what they call their favorite saint, St. Nicholas. He is said to have died on December 6, A.D. 342. December 6th is celebrated as his feast day, and in many countries this is the day he arrives with his presents and punishments. Nicholas lived in what is now called Turkey. He was born about A.D. 280 in the town of Patras. His parents were wealthy and he was well educated. Nicholas seems to have had a remarkable childhood. While still a young boy he was made Bishop of Myra, and because of this he has been known ever since as the Boy Bishop. He was renowned for his extreme kindness and generosity – often going out at night and taking presents to the needy. Santa's rise to fame can be traced to two legends – the three daughters and the children at the Inn. The Three Daughters The first story shows his generosity. There were three unmarried girls living in Patras who came from a respectable family, but they could not get married because their father had lost all his money and had no dowries for the girls. The only thing the father thought he could do was to sell them when they reached the age to marry. Hearing of the imminent fate, Nicholas secretly delivered a bag of gold to the eldest daughter, who was at the right age for marriage but had despaired of ever finding a suitor. Her family was thrilled at her good fortune and she went on to become happily married. When the next daughter came of age, Nicholas also delivered gold to her. According to the story handed down, Nicholas threw the bag through the window and it landed in the daughter's stocking, which she had hung by the fire to dry. Another version claims that Nicholas dropped the bag of gold down the chimney. By the time the youngest daughter was old enough for marriage, the father was determined to discover his daughters' benefactor. He, quite naturally, thought that she might be given a bag of gold too, so he decided to keep watch all night. Nicholas, true to form, arrived and was seized, and his identity and generosity were made known to all. As similar stories of the bishop's generosity spread, anyone who received an unexpected gift thanked St. Nicholas. St. Nicholas and Children Another one of the many stories told about St. Nicholas explains why he was made a patron saint of children. On a journey to Nicaea, he stopped on the way for the night at an inn. During the night he dreamt that a terrible crime had been committed in the building. His dream was quite horrifying. In it three young sons of a wealthy Asian, on their way to study in Athens, had been murdered and robbed by the innkeeper. The next morning he confronted the innkeeper and forced him to confess. Apparently the innkeeper had previously murdered other guests and salted them down for pork or had dismembered their bodies and pickled them in casks of brine. The three boys were still in their casks, and Nicholas made the sign of the cross over them and they were restored to life.
  16. It's not just woman though...young men and girls as well. People lie there age and by the time people meet its to late.....
  17. You Were There</span> <span style=\'color:purple\'>I wonder how it must have felt When David stood to face Goliath on a hill I imagine that he shook with all his might Until You took his hand, and held on tight 'Cause You were there, You were there In the midst of danger's snare You were there, You were there always You were there when the hardest fight Seemed so out of reach Oh, You were there, You were always there You were always there So there he stood upon that hill Abraham with knife in hand was poised to kill But God in all his sovereignty had bigger plans And just in time, You brought a lamb 'Cause You were there, You were there In the midst of the unclear You were there, you were there always You were there when obedience Seemed to not make sense You were there, You were always there You were always there So haven't I learned that my ways Aren't as high as Yours are And You alone keep the universe From crumbling into dust You are God and though we would Not have understood You There You were Hanging blameless on a cross You would rather die than leave us in the dark Every moment, every planned coincidence Just all makes sense With Your last breath You were there, You were there During history’s darkest hour You were there, You were there always You were the Victor and the King You were the power in David's swing You were the calm in Abraham You are the God who understands You are the strength when we have none You are the living, Holy one You were, You are and You will always be the Risen Lamb of God You were, You are and You will always be The Risen Lamb of God By Avalon
  18. Letters From War Words & Music by Mark Schultz and Cindy Morgan from the Mark Schultz album, Stories & Songs She walked to the mailbox On that bright Summer's day Found a letter from her son In a war far away He spoke of the weather And good friends that he'd made Said "I've been thinking about Dad And the life that he had Thats why I'm here today" And at the end he said "You are what I'm fighting for" It was the first of his letters from war (Chorus) She started writing You're good and you're brave What a father that you'll be someday Make it home Make it safe She wrote every night as she prayed Late in December A day she'll not forget Her tears stained the paper With every word that she read It said "I was up on a hill I was out there alone When the shots all rang out And bombs were exploding And that's when I saw him He came back for me And though he was captured A man set me free And that man was your son He asked me to write to you I told him "I would,' oh I swore" It was the last of the letters from war And she prayed he was living Kept on believing and wrote every night just to say (Chorus) Then two years later Autumn leaves all around A car pulled in the driveway And she fell to the ground And out stepped a captain Where her boy used to stand He said "Mom, I'm following orders From all of your letters And I've come home again" He ran in to hold her And dropped all his bags on the floor Holding all of her letters from war Bring him home Bring him home Bring him home
  19. I think its crazy to try to annylize it....She could have been happy in her marriage, but just because you have kids..doesnt mean your life is full. Kids have there own lives and forget how hard it is to be alone. She could have just wanted someone to spend the rest of her time here with on earth, thats not bad........I wouldnt do it, but I'm not everyyone. I would just be grateful she found happiness and can move on, I would be more worried if she was stuck in a depression cycle. there are worse things to stress about.

  24. “And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matt. 16:19). “And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of promise, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of this priesthood; and it shall be said unto them—Ye shall come forth in the first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next resurrection; and shall inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, all heights and depths—then shall it be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life … and shall be of full force when they are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the seeds forever and ever” (D&C 132:19). It's not that we must be sealed to get into heaven, we must be sealed to get the highest degree of glory.....
