The way I interpret it, NO. My wife and I are starting our 1st day of vegatarianism today. I will tell you how it goes.

I thought that only the President of the Church held all the keys? Humor me I am a convert. lol
-
Good point that could be how they used meat back in the day.
-
My vice is Diet Coke. I need to stop drinking soda all together and I also want to stop drinking any and all caffine.
-
LOL, yeah that is it. I think revelation can come in many forms tailored to the individual.
-
Good points. I think meat in moderation is probably fine, it is just in excess even things like meat can be a bad thing.

Good, I hope to never be like that. I know that about Marines, I have worked with them a lot in my career and my Grandfather was one in WWII.

I hope that I have not come across like that. I am just putting out what I think we should all be doing. I am deffinatly not perfect. This came up because my wife and I were discussing the WoW and we were talking about the meat thing. We came to a desision to become mostly vegetarian so that we might be following the WoW. I hope I did not come across like I was being judgmental. Sorry if I did.

Very true. We can only make sure we choose the right. But we can help guide others to make better choises.

overcoming fear

You could also ask them to either bring with them some regular members or just have some member missionaries visit. I would find that helpfull having another convert to the Church come by. Then you can discuss some of the questions that you have that they probably had also and they can explain to you what they learned. This approach can be a very powerfull tool, a lot of recent converts while not as knowledgable in the Scriptures have very strong testimonies about the truthfullness of the Church. -
Holy Spirit Working?
Mykdiver replied to MichaelPAGuy's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
I think that whatever leads you to an understanding of the truth, and a building of your testimony is a good thing. Good lessons and information take many forms. -
Very true, but that is not nessesarily following the WoW, now is it? We should either follow it or not. We do not have the right to pick and choose which part we will follow, this is a comandment from the Lord, not a "if you feel like it, do some part of it"....

To me only the first marriage counts as far as the Lord is concerned. The others were just so the woman would have someone to take care of her.

Ahmen to that! I agree the hardest part of service is being served. It is hard to admit it when you need help. As far as service goes, I feel it is one of the most important things we can do as Christians that will help us become closer to the spirit. We need to be helpfull and serve others every chance we get, it will make the world a much better place to live!

I think that watching rated R movies breaks the spirit any time they are veiwed! As far as the length of your fast... I don't think that the length is as important as the effectivness of it. If you really dedicate yourself, pray often, read your scriptures as part of it and really concentrate on what you are fasting for that would be more effective than just fasting for a longer period of time.

What I am wondering is, it says "eat meat sparingly, used only in times of winter, or cold or famine." What that is saying to me is that we should all be pretty much vegitarians unless we are starving, or in rough winter times. So are people following the Word of Wisdom who eat meat with every meal, or 2 meals a day? I know lots of people that go to interviews with their Bishops and answer yes to the question are you following the Word of Wisdom, when in acuality they are not. So what are your takes on this?

My Testimony About the Controversial Stuff
Mykdiver replied to NormalMormon's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Very well said. If we both do the same thing then the other areas suffer. We have equal but different jobs for a reason, effectiveness. -
Thanks for the input Vort. Yes I know I can ask my EQ President, I do that. I am just inquiring as far as additional info, and or experiences from those of you that have served in this calling. Thanks a lot for the inputs.
