  1. :) The bad unless you can get the last 2 at the library it will cost. Both will come out in hard back first.

I would rather read in order. I too, like to get to know my characters. When I read the "First Family" by David Baldacci that is what I missed. You know they left the service , but you do not know why:(

These women are some strong characters, too. I do tend to talk to them though when they do not do what I want them to do. :)

  2. Did you say you will have 3 of your own children in this class? I will be praying for you. With the "little one" coming into your class this might create a big problem with you trying to teach. At this age mommy is still mommy, even if she is your teacher.

"All my concerns aside, I need to support the decisions of my primary presidency and teach this group of kids. How do I teach this group of kids who are at such different stages of life developmentally successfully? "

You are doing right by supporting your primary leadership.

I wonder if they know that they could also teach a class until they can get extra teachers.

  3. We as Latter day saints need also to balance "being in the world but not of the world".

There are some topics that will never have the answer. At least the answer that people want to hear. No one "wins" everyone "loses" because we have created more bad feelings then good. I have decided not to take part in these threads that can only go to that area. I do not see "good" in pulling down another on either side of this topic.

  4. "I have my own spiritual relationship with God yet I know that I'm not doing enough."

Sometimes we just need to express our needs. I think you already know what you need to do. As an elementary principal would you accept a child not doing the best that they could do. Heavenly Father will not give you any more then you can do with His help. All we have to do is ask.

  5. "By small and simple things are great things brought to pass..."

It can be easy to remember to thank our Heavenly Father for the large and obvious blessings but sometimes we (and by this I mean me) can overlook the little things that God has blessed us with that improve life in small ways. So what are five small things that you can be grateful for today?

    1. The bus lets my grandbabies off right by my house. Their hugs and kisses make my day. :)

    2. Electric can opener :)

    3. Crayons :)

    4. I agree, ice , During the storms in the south we went without. Nothing like a tall glass of ice water then :) and now:)

    5. Porch swing, on a lazy Saturday afternoon watching those other larger gifts from our Heavenly Father. :)

Thank you, counting my blessing makes a better day.

  6. Is there any way you can get another teacher with you. This way one can control the crowd while one teaches. After awhile the younger ones will settle down. Kids now days are very visual so you might have to get some things from the library. The Sunbeam manual teaches about the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The CTR manual is getting them ready to be baptise at 8. I would suggest that you get both manuals if they expect for you to teach both. Compare those lessons with like topics and pull in what you can use with both groups. Much like the leadership does in sharing time. You will need to talk to both groups. So it will be like a roller coaster. This is the reason for the other teacher. A hand on a shoulder or finger to lips on her part can save you from stopping to do this. I have always said, if you can keep their attention you can teach. If you break eye contact you will loose that attention. With as many children as you will be have, I hope you have a room big enough. Being too crowded also makes the problem worse.

  7. I am hurt and sad and have thought about me not being in this world? People make jokes about me. They laugh behind my back. They avoid me. They make rude sounds. Science says I can stop and I and others like me think I can not. I am a good person. I am a loney person at times. I sometimes will do things just get attention because I feel no one cares.

Ok, my point is this happens to many people. This world is a cruel world for those that are diffrent. This is how I felt one time. I am over weight and very shy. Do not tell me this does not compare. I have been fighting this all my life. Tell me how many over weight teenagers have ended their lives.

The problem is not one aqainst another. It is how we treat each other. Science can be life savers and does every day. They can also confuse with each day bringing a diffrent discovery.

I say: Let us take science out of the equation.

Lets just not be part of the problem. Never go up to another and tell him he or she is fat, gay, lds, jew, unnatural, etc.

Let us not judge least we be judged.

Treat others as you would like to be treated.

I believe someone on here has a saying about being offended. :)

Just maybe that person is not judging you so do not be so defensive.

Sad, it was a gay that told me he would look better then I would in the dress that I was looking at for my daughter. I did not even think about he was gay. I thought that he was right.

  8. Sisters, How about sharing some with us and maybe we can help you ;) I am not in a Stake calling now, but maybe by providing some post we can get this moving. :) At one time I was Stake Primary Secretary and Nursery Leader.

Some of the best Stake meetings were when we shared with each other.

:) I think we use that chocolate idea.

  9. Also do not confuse them. They are learning their limits. If you set the rules, keep with them. Do not hit and miss on keeping them. Also know they are not just learning from you. There is a big world out there. They are like little sponges. They soak it in.

It becomes "What she sees, is what you get." Talk to them. Give them reality checks. Teach her to value herself and others. Teach her compassion. Enjoy her, They grow up so fast. :)

  10. In Canada they did it the right way, the passed the gay marriage law with a "not withstanding clause" meaning it can be opted out of by groups such as any faith and they are protected from any action against them for not performing or condoning the marriages. Give the civil benefits while protecting the religious aspect. Already done with straight marriages to a point, just carry it over.

Marriage??? This is the circle then.

We both have a choice in what we believe. You have yours and I have mine. I respect your belief but do not agree with it.

I also believe the conference was not one of confusion. It did not promote hate.

  11. True, this is the reason for volunteer fire dept. My husband has been a volunteer for over 36 years. With all the regulations and stuff now training is a must. We have have bake sales, garage sales, dances and etc... just to pay for the training in stay within the guide lines. We also have to carry insurance on the people, equipment, and etc. The small city helps some but all adds up Equipment for 1 person cost between $1500 and $2000. People donate on their water bill if they want to. We apply for grants and etc. As you see we have to work to support our volunteers. You never know when your time will come when you need their help. We found out the hard way that it can happen to you. They were there for us.

  12. I so learned that I need a towel instead of kleenex. My heart was so full. I could not stop crying. Being able to listen and see the conference at home is such a blessing to us at this time.

We have asked and we have received. Now it is our turn to take these words and apply them to our lives. We have our agency, the choice is ours. This was told to us. The choice of how we will be accountable for that choice is not ours.

You know I did not feel that one word was said that was not guided by love.

  13. I can see now there are many areas where I could take a little longer to cover and go over some areas. I started out with a very young nursery. We have come to the end of the year and we have finished the manual. I am thinking about using scripture stories that go alone with the conference talks for the month of October. In November we will talk about wht we are thankful for. In December we talk about Jesus Christ.

What are you doing to build on the manual?

I love this manual and the line drawings. I use them over and over again. The off white color is NOT very good for copying in a machine because it come off as gray and using more ink. I go to the LDS site to get copies for this reason.
