What is something good that happened to you today?
Suzie replied to pam's topic in General Discussion
I finished a 3-day fruit cleanse. It is never easy (lol) but I enjoy the endless energy. -
#2 is the lie? 😲

I was supposed to wait for the correct reply but couldn't help it. lol @Fether since you were the first one to reply, you can go ahead.

Gosh guys, you all really think I was banned from this forum twice?? tsk tsk tsk lol

We used to play this game years ago, a nice little game to get to know each other or learn something new. It is very simple...you write two truths and a lie (about anything). The next poster has to guess which one is the lie. The first person who writes the correct "lie" will start the next round. Okay, I will start. 1. I was banned from this forum twice in the past. 2. I love chocolate cake. 3. My last calling was Sunday School teacher.

I like both although vanilla is quite boring. I make my own ice-cream and I like to add some coconut milk to the mix. Delish!

In his latest interview or should I say latest conspiracy theory, Trump said "The FBI and Department of Justice, I don't know, maybe they're involved". Yes, the entire country planned and executed an evil, master plan to steal the election from President Trump because of course, there is no way on earth that HE could possibly lose an election. The nerve!!!

I cannot wait until this circus is over. Trump is fine with all the states he won, those were not rigged at all including every single vote he got (and he even acknowledged he got more than 10 million votes from the last election). But the ones from Biden...those are fraud. Seriously, you don't get to say the election is fraud just because you don't like the results. It is such a juvenile argument and most importantly, no proof of widespread voter fraud nationwide. Joe Biden IS the President-elect and WILL become the next POTUS. This isn't the first time that Trump talks about elections being "rigged" from Obama, Clinton, his own failed Emmy Award to Ted Cruz in 2016 about Iowa, the President has a history of calling "fraud" to ANY results he disagrees.

1. Curious, approximately how long ago was "back then"? Inquiring to see if the concerns that triggered recent events around here are unique to nowadays or if they are simply issues that rear their head in periodic waves do to the nature of being a discussion board? NeedleInA, I'm too old to remember that but let me say the issues in the political discussion board aren't new.

I joined this forum eleven years ago. I left for a long period of time because the toxicity here became unbearable. There were people insulting others to make a point, being very unkind and condescending (and to an extend, one can argue that it continues to happen in the political discussion board if you don't agree with the status quo). Back then, I didn't see posters being warned when displaying this kind of uncivil behavior and it became a very toxic and negative environment so many people left. Personally, I don't think it has anything to do with politics or Church doctrine. I think it has to do with personality, understanding and self-control. Once we fully understand the art of debating, there is no need to become hostile, cruel or defensive but instead we will be working on offering stronger arguments in a civil manner making always the focus the message rather than the messenger. And most importantly, be humble enough to accept 'touché' moments throughout our discussions. This is why throughout the years, I enjoyed debating with JAG in this forum. Both of us think alike in quite a few things and yet very different in other aspects, including some aspects of Church history. But when I engage him in a debate, he has always been so respectful and yet firm in his views. I make fun of him for being overly conservative and he makes fun of my "progressive" ways. And this is how I believe, brothers and sisters in the Gospel, should be towards one another. Now, I am not putting myself as an example of anything...the good Lord knows I'm not... but I just wanted to illustrate the point that in my view, it isn't really about politics or religion. It is about who we are and trying to remember that even behind a keyboard, we are all still brothers and sisters.

" FYI, especially now, just posting a screen cap of an alleged tweet and saying "this tweet is real", is just one step away from being someone's crazy aunt." Have I said anything that offended you? (seriously asking). Your post is hostile and you are getting personal, I don't appreciate it. Please stop.

Before you click on this video, please (just for once) forget who is saying it (this is not about Clinton). What is said from 2:29 to 3:18 is exactly how the president is (and you can tell by his body language he isn't denying it either). You can check the whole video, even then... he couldn't say if he would concede. He cannot fathom the idea of losing. This isn't about Clinton, this isn't about Biden. This is about Trump and when things don't go his way, it is because it is rigged.

I'm going to say this and it isn't meant to be sarcastic. I know it's hard for the president to accept defeat, but he lost (the history professor was right after all). When the counting is over, it's time for the president to call for unity and leave the White House with his head up and dignity. His rants on social media, his baseless allegations are both sad and borderline absurd at this point. I hope someone can actually reason with him because I don't believe this is the way he wants to be remembered when he leaves the oval office (hopefully, willingly!). Perhaps, agree with his own opinion? (this tweet is real).

Please kindly, do not put words in my mouth. I said it was a lie (meaning, the post itself being fake). Those who know me here, know very well I would never call anyone a liar. Having said that, I retracted the statement and said it was childish.
-
If he did, I retract my statement. What a childish thing to do.
-
This is a LIE. He never posted that on Twitter. If you zoom in, you can even tell it is fake.

Trump has a good chance to win and Biden too so let's wait and see. Having said that, it is really sad (in a bad way) to read/hear about "cheating" and "fraud" just because Trump isn't doing well in some states. On Twitter, he is behaving and ranting like a spoiled child right now, just because he isn't getting his way. I think we all know that if those mail-in ballots were benefiting him, he would praise the entire process as "transparent" and "tremendous" . Nuff said.

One of my sisters posted a picture of herself and my brother in law going to vote. Also, some dumb anti-dem quote about voting for Trump, I really don't get it. We talked about this a million times, they don't like Trump at all and yet...voting for him. Fine but the reason got me... because "that's what our leaders want us to do". Really? No wonder I'm the black sheep, to be honest it is ridiculous. On another note, more I hear Trump talking... more I realize he needs to go home and perhaps plan a new season of the Apprentice or something. The game is over. Don't get me started with Joe, every time he talks is like watching an episode of the Twilight Zone.
-
Allan Lichtman who has correctly predicted the winner of each presidential race since Ronald Reagan’s reelection victory in 1984 says that Trump will lose... but there is more, he says Democrats will most likely win the Senate as well.
-
Kanye West is also running for President. I was going to say how in the world.... but again, you have Trump running again so anything can happen. I watched him yesterday but I was too distracted by the nodding lady in the background, it was constant and at some point it was just irritating.
-
No amount of 'dirt' will change minds at this point. Too many things happened during this administration. Biden is going to win, I'm almost certain.

Vort, before I answer your post I would like to state the following: It is quite clear that I am not a fan of the Trump administration, but having said that I don't think Biden was the right choice as a candidate for the dems, anyone watching him speak would understand why. It is very concerning to me that he could even be considered for the job but then again you have Trump as a president... BUT my dislike or like (if that was the case) for any of these candidates doesn't mean I will be unfair or blind to what exactly took place during these debates. The first one was a circus thanks to no other than POTUS. Then given that Harris had an advantage in time talking, or at worst they had equal time, perhaps you can explain why the moderator was constantly trying to cut off Pence but only rarely Harris. Vort, I am sure you watched the debate. Pence repeatedly exceeded his allotted time compared to Harris. She did it as well of course, but no way as many times as Pence did. That's a fact. Just like the president, it seems he doesn't like to follow the rules he agreed on before this debate. Imagine the moderator has to be tell you that your allotted time is over, not just once but over and over and over again when it is clear that you have no intentions of respecting the time that was given to you. Hence, the moderator had no choice but to cut off Pence when he clearly didn't want to stop. Have we been talking about Harris dodging questions? I must have missed your contributions. Harris dodged a few important questions, it was frustrating. The China issue and Biden acting like a hippie back in the 60's is very concerning to me. But let's be clear and state that Pence also dodged a few questions and I think we need to be honest here because both did it during the debate. Having said all of this, I enjoyed this debate compared to the first one.
-
Vort, you are now sounding like you dated Harris in high-school and she dumped you. (j/k, not really) If we are going to talk about Harris dodging some questions..are we going to talk about Pence as well? What is good for the goose....
-
What a distasteful comment to make about someone Vort, a "lying piece of crap". Quite an emotional response coming from you. Pence couldn't stop talking at certain points no matter how many times the moderator told him his time was up. She even had to remind him of the rules they agreed on for the debate.

Wishful thinking, what Trump does not say speaks louder than words. Having said that, I hope he recovers very soon and IF he loses the election he can be mature enough to accept the defeat. On another note...the fly was the star tonight. Harris was great (she wasn't going to put up with being interrupted). Pence had some good moments as well. Edit: Trump is NOT going to debate Biden (in person) next Thursday, right? If so, can someone PLEASE remind POTUS that he has COVID-19? And who in the right mind would allow this?
