  1. Not sure if we are hypocrites. However, I don't agree with trying to stop others from calling themselves "Fundamentalist Mormons" if they wish to do.
  2. When I read them, I thought there were the statements of a man who doesn't agree or believe in EVERYTHING about Mormonism and struggles with his faith.
  3. More than interpretation, it seems like 100% assumptions on your part.
  4. Just curious...do you know him personally? If you don't, why do you think he should be proud of his Church membership? Maybe he is struggling with his faith (along with many other Mormons) and that's exactly how he feels? Reading the news and this thread, I am not sure exactly what is the problem with what he said to be honest.
  5. I suppose we should state what exactly means to preach against the Church.
  6. Well, the fact that you created this thread tells me it's bothering you. Talk to your SP.
  7. This could be said of other laws, the point is STILL the law and needs to be respected. I would also like to point out that there seems to be some people who are against immigrants (brown skinned ones particularly)(regardless of their legal status) and that's just plain racist. An illegal immigrant is an ILLEGAL immigrant, whether they're brown skinned or are white with blue eyes makes absolutely no difference to me.
  8. Hmmm ok then.
  9. Great idea. However, may I suggest not to waste too many ingredients? I hate to see stuff going to waste! :)
  10. I wish I could thank this post twice! :)
  11. Oh lol lol lol I just realized what I wrote yesterday. I meant to say: I hope this clarifies my point. :)
  12. I see your point Pam. :) I just see it through another perspective I think.
  13. But how the mother did that? For what I understood, the lady calls her on Thursdays and let her know whether she will need Lizzy or not, how is that putting her life on hold? . Also the OP states that this never happened before.
  14. I always say that those who are struggling with doubts or decided to apostatize ("abandonment of a religious belief" definition) in the Church are what I called "Modern Day Lepers". Because it is easier to encircle those who believe in the same way you do, it doesn't require much effort hence people usually have no problem VT/HT an already active member but don't really wish to venture into the less active folks (again, requires effort). I believe it makes people uncomfortable to know there is someone who is struggling with doubts and when they make the unfortunate and erroneous association (in some cases) of doubts with anti-mormon material then the person is seen like a total alien.
  15. How is she taking advantage of you?
  16. hmmmm. Not funny.
  17. Oh come on Anatess. Moving on...
  18. You said "He has been reading too much anti-Mormon propaganda" which is a statement of fact. Now, I'm usually not this fussy about words but I thought it was an unfair statement to make because you don't know the guy therefore there is no way you know this. Often times I see members saying exactly the same thing every time another member has a serious concern about the Church or is critical in some sort of aspect. I find it unfair. I can give a whole list of things I am critical about the Church and I never read anti-mormon material. Making assumptions is never a safe enough bet. IMO.
  19. No, you don't get a detailed report.
  20. You would agree with me that just because the Church gave an explanation, it doesn't mean some people agree or are satisfied with the explanation (including members). I think sometimes we use the word criticism and anti-mormonism as mutually inclusive (another pet peeve of mine). I think that's wrong. It's funny you mentioned the mall because I absolutely disagree with the idea and I didn't like it from day one (but that's for another thread). I just wanted to say that stating he has been reading anti-Mormon material is silly because unless you know this guy personally, there is no way you know that.
  21. Oh wow, really??? Could it be that because of the way you was raised you feel guilty about playing RPG's?(not really because of God's "punishment", but simply feeling guilty).
  22. Mormonmusic, this is a tough one because I believe this brother has some valid concerns. Depending on the area and the local leadership, Church can become a "business-like experience". I worked for the Church for many years and yes, it's run like a business and unfortunately many of the people who work there also have callings in the Church and they don't seem to know how to separate the business aspect from the spiritual aspect. One of my pet peeves. I would suggest that you can help him focus on the Scriptures and his personal relationship with Christ.
  23. And you know this because...?
  24. Wing, you sounded like Adrian Monk there for a minute.
