  1. Judo, your ex raped a woman out of revenge. I think that besides your own story of abuse, that piece of information alone was enough.
  2. NEVER heard of it. This is probably one of those "my second cousin told me that his friend's aunt said that her best friend's grandson was interviewed by the Bishop and..."
  3. JudoMinja, first of all I cannot express with words the happiness (for lack of a better word) I feel to know you was able to leave such abusive and toxic environment. I'm also happy for your son. Often times, victims of abuse don't leave and sometimes it's too late. I'm glad your case was different however, please, please, please don't fall victim of a possible trap your ex-may be trying to set. It is quite possible he changed yes but it is also quite possible that he is just trying to see if you would reply. Please do not! You have accomplished so many things and you and your son are now safe, don't reply, ignore it!!
  4. I read somewhere he was killed a week ago and because of the DNA test, Obama released the information yesterday.
  5. What do you mean by depends on the kind of abuse? Generally speaking, I think sometimes if a person is in an abusive relationship for so long, their mindset is very fragile, meaning they have become so used to the abuse (even though they may not see it or deny it by saying it is not "that" bad) and somewhat they have accepted their "fate". Most of the time, they don't realize it. I believe sometime ago, I shared a story of a woman who I personally know. We were watching a show that happen to be about abusive relationships. In the show, they featured this man who would physically harm his wife. When I saw it, I said "Oh my goodness, that's just plain awful!". The other lady replied "I agree. It is awful. One thing is if he calls you names or give you a slap but beating you up like that?... it's just awful!".
  6. It seems to me that you really want to wear the white suit. Your age doesn't matter, as long as you're comfortable with it. :)
  7. I am so suspicious about sites like that one. Even if you tell me it's the younger brother of your cousin's husband who thought about it.
  8. That's a wonderful story Alfred. :) I'm glad to hear about your conversion.
  9. I think we are talking about serious anger management issues, possibly psychological issues. However, regardless of the problem I think one of the parents should be sitting with him in primary. No doubt in my mind about it.
  10. What about the first one?
  11. I think that's my main issue.
  12. I think I meant to put more questions and somehow I got it mix up.
  13. Immigration officials may deport Mormon branch president and family | Deseret News I would like your view on the following: 1. Do you think the Church should personally intervene in a case like this? (since this brother was a Church leader). 2. How do you feel about illegal immigrants being called in a position of leadership such as Branch Presidents or Bishops? (where they must evaluate the worthiness of other members, including honesty) What about having a temple recommend? 3. Will your view change for question #2 if you knew the illegal immigrant leader is using stolen SSN or other documents belonging to a US citizen? (identity theft) 5. How do we balance obedience of the laws of the land with compassion towards others in need?
  14. “The government of East Germany would not allow Church materials to be taken into the country,” he recalled. “So I was asked by President Spencer W. Kimball to memorize the new edition of what we then called the General Church Handbook of Instructions, to cross the border into East Germany, and then to type the handbook for the faithful Church leaders there. Although it would have been impossible for anyone to actually memorize the entire book, I did study it thoroughly and learned the concepts from cover to cover. I traveled to East Germany, asked the Church leaders there for an office, a typewriter and a ream of paper. I commenced typing.” However, an hour or two later, President Monson stood up to stretch, glanced around the room and noticed a bookshelf behind him. On the shelf was a copy of the new edition of the General Handbook of Instructions in the German language. “Someone had obviously smuggled it across the border,” he said. “Since that time, I’ve been rather knowledgeable concerning the contents of that book.” LDS Church News - Worldwide leadership broadcast: Pres. Monson emphasizes importance of reading, understanding and following handbook guidance

  16. He told you that knowing you are in an abusive relationship or he didn't know about the abuse?
  17. Pretty? Ohhh my goodness MOE. You just made me lose my appetite. Even if you tell your boy scouts probably they don't even know about that song...heck, I didn't even know about it. However you ummm....darn it. A hero has fallen.
  18. Oh wow, MOE has a heart after all.
  19. Well whoever says you are hypocritical for not "calling him back" (based on your doubts) are just plain idiots. Your son is a man, not a little boy.
  20. It makes absolutely no sense to me to be honest but it doesn't have to make sense to me but to you. :)
  21. Ram, I agree with everything you just said. I'm just not sure if I can fit that scripture in James with our role as proxies in the temple (when we do baptism for our dead). Yes, I believe we are blessed when we do the work for them, but I'm not sure if I believe we are cleansed from sin or "re-baptize" when we do it.
  22. Thanks for explaining but still I am not sure if I can agree about the possibility of the Holy Ghost leading someone away from the Church to another Church. I will give it more thought.
  23. Again, in your scenario you talked about an LDS member who can be led away from the true Church to another Church. Not sure if you fully understand what you are saying here.
  24. I am not sure if I understand the connection. Your scenario didn't propose an excommunicated member (which is NOT a member by Church standards). Your scenario was of an LDS member.
  25. No problem with that at all. However, that's not the scenario. The scenario is an LDS believer who is struggling to keep their covenants, being led away from the Church by the Holy Ghost to another Church to grow/progress (sorry but I am not sure I can agree with that). Now, If such person abandons the Church and it's beliefs and embraces another, it's called Apostasy (by definition). It's called Apostasy even if they choose not to embrace another Church, just merely the abandonment of their prior beliefs qualifies it.
