  1. From what I understand, they are pretty much the same, but you would be better off asking your Stake President, that way you will get the best & most current answer.
  2. Everyone should become aware of the various groups & organizations that are working together to protect our environment, whether it be globally, nationally and/or locally. There is so much going on behind our backs that we don't know about because it is not being reported by the main media (TV, newspaper, radio, etc). It is shocking to learn just how extensive this really is, but one would not know this unless they investigate it themselves, so where to start is the biggest question? Luckily, there are more books & documentaries now available that show the extent of what is truly going on. Most of it is being perpetuated by the big mega agricultural companies that are more interested in profits than safety of the consumers. Anyone live near any of the CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations)? It is unbelievable how much & widespread these outfits are becoming. It has gotten so out of control that major contamination has moved into the sewers (bringing toxic poisons to treatment plants), into community waterways, pools, lakes, & into the neighborhoods. Those who live within the immediate vicinity are now suffering from major health issues & government agencies (local & federal) are not doing anything about it, not even enforcing the laws with these mega companies. There is a great article in the Nov issue of O magazine titled "This Is Not Farming". It covers the work of Lynn Henning in Michigan as she investigates & documents what has been going on. Please, please read it! Another excellent source to see and/or read (available as a movie & a book)is Food Inc. It is a very comprehensive documentary of what has been going on nationwide to our food source & how compromised it has become. Our rights to healthy, clean, unadulterated, unprocessed, live food is slowly, but consistently being taken away from us. This will continue unless we become more aware & become active in doing something about this. The pollution of the environment is directly affected by all of this. The CAFOs has highly contributed to a more toxic environment. For more information & interest in helping, please send me a message via this website or to my email: [email protected]

  4. DVR rules!!! Recording those special moments when not being able to be home. Oh yeah, I will be home, but going to record the sessions anyways!
  5. Oooooohhhh, what a great idea!! I like, I like! Thanks for sharing this!
  6. I will be watching the sessions comfortably planted in my cushy recliner with my lap-desk on my lap, pen & large pad of paper to jot down notes, feelings & moments of 'aha' during all four sessions. I can't wait...it is going to be an awesome experience!!
  7. That design is perfect for the Philadelphia area! Absolutely stunning!
  8. What I would recommend is to research this very extensively as things have changed so much in both Los Angeles & San Francisco. I live in San Diego (& I am very spoiled here! LOL!), but I had also lived in LA many years ago. LA is not what it used to be at all & I would never go back to that area ever. Now you mentioned Irvine, while that is the newer & upcoming area..it is becoming more expensive, significantly increasing in population & increasing in traffic problems. I would recommend working with a real estate agent who has been in that area for at least 15 yrs. They have the experience that would better guide you as opposed to an agent that has been there for only 5 yrs or less. Due to the major changes that have happened in that area, you really need a very experienced agent. Now with regards to Walnut Creek, if I had to pick between Irvine & Walnut Creek, I'd pick Walnut Creek! It is a very lovely area up there (I travel up there quite a bit), but again you would want an experienced person to help advise you. Walnut Creek is also an upcoming & expanding area, so expect some expensive properties around that area as well. If you have children, you will want to know about the schools & how they rate for both Irvine & Walnut Creek. Get a list going of all the pros & cons (from experienced & reliable sources) for both areas & then base your decision on those results. I wish you the best on this new adventure.
  9. The first question that I have is....why would a woman want to wear a men's garment? They're not even made for a woman's body, so they would be very uncomfortable, not to mention not fit properly under women's clothing.
  10. This is something that should never be forgotten. My Great-Aunt was the sole survivor out of her family. She was a very young girl when her family was forced into a concentration camp. She and her family lived in Vienna and were a high ranking Jewish family. When it came down to the Nazis...money, class, wealth, contributions to society, etc. didn't make a difference. If you were Jewish, you were an undesirable!! Tragic! I remember her wearing long sleeves to hide the tattoo on her inner arm, yet not one word of vengeance or anger came out of her mouth. In spite of what she witness & was subjected to, she loved everyone. She was one very brave soul! She died when I was very young & I was devastated at loosing her. Now, I know that I will be with her again & that brings me comfort.
  11. Oh my gosh, Pam...I just noticed your new avatar!! Yaaaaahhhhhhooooo.....go Chargers!!! The Boltz are back!! This will be an amazing season & I think they will have the greatest season of all!
  12. Oh Gwen - that is too, too funny!! Yep, that would make sense, huh?!
  13. Actually, that's not quite right...what they did in 2009 was to allow a Colorado resident to apply for a permit to install a roof rain collection system, but you must qualify & most of the time it will be denied. As I said, I have a coworker that lives there & they have not been able to get around the law & the requirements to be able to do so.
  14. I came across a very interesting thing about Colorado...you cannot own any rain collecting &/or storage systems whatsoever!! The state of Colorado lays claim on all rainwater rights & it is illegal for residents to collect & store rainwater! I have a coworker that lives there & they were remodeling their home. He had mentioned about the landscaping problems he was having. I told him to check into the rain collection systems & make use of all the rain they get. He told me they were illegal. I thought he was pulling my leg until I researched it myself & found that he was correct!! Most ridiculous thing I have ever come across!!
  15. John Galt is a fictional character in Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged (1957). Although he does not appear in person until the last third of the novel, he is the subject of its often-repeated question "Who is John Galt?" and of the quest to discover the answer.
  16. ZorabelMay - the best thing to do is to take the Temple Preparation Class...it is an absolutely wonderful class, the instructors are very helpful & supportive, and it is a great way to get prepared for attending the Temple. My first time was an amazing experience and you just have to experience it yourself personally in order to truly appreciate the beauty and the purpose of the Temple.
  17. How about checking out BYUTV.org? You can view episodes of many wonderful programs there and there is also LiveTV where you actually watch the BYUTV channel. It is wonderful!
  18. applepansy (cute name!) - Roots Magic 4 is a great software program that is totally compatible with New Family Search. It has the capability to be downloaded to a Flash(Memory) Stick which can travel with you. When you go to other Family History Centers, Vitals Statistic centers, and other places for information, you can run your Flash Stick on your laptop or any other computer that you may have access to. Then when you return home, you just connect the Flash Stick to your main computer to add in all the new information to your main Roots Magic 4 database, as well as, to your New Family Search database all at the same time. It is a great program! I've been running it for almost 2yrs now. I did away with my PAF program after getting Roots Magic 4, plus PAF is no longer going to be updated nor improved. Here's the link to learn more about RM4: RootsMagic - Software to Unite Families Enjoy!
  19. As long as you have your member number, you go to this link: https://new.familysearch.org/en/action/unsec/welcome just copy and paste that link into your computer and when the website opens up just sign up (there are easy to follow instructions). Once you're logged in login and password, you can do a search and be able to see what works have been done. Have you contacted any of your Ward's Family History Consultants yet? They would be more than happy to come to you and help you with this. Also, have you gone into your Stake Family History Center? Again, there's people there that will help you with everything. There's also computers there where they will help you with things online. Good luck!
  20. The only question that I have is....why isn't all of this being reported to the FBI for investigation & prosecution???
  21. I have to agree with Shown..I have heard about this way of eating, but didn't really know much about it until recently. Four weeks ago I came across a very interesting article in a health magazine explaining this way of eating. It even had recipes that really grabbed my attention as they were so easy & so do-able! So, I forged ahead with giving this a try. It wasn't hard at all as I have always been semi-vegetarian anyways, but the big surprise was how delicious the food was & how easy it was to do. I have been on it for three weeks now, feeling so much better, more energy, less coughing/phlem (cough/phlem had been due to wheat & being lactose intolerant), etc. I'm amazed at all the incredible recipes that are available & believe it or not, I am not missing any of the previous health robbing foods that I used to eat!! I have another post on here "Are you a Raw Foodie" where I have posted some raw food recipes. They are just a small example of the incredible & scrumptious recipes that are available.
  22. Thanks, Shown, everything you pointed out in your post is everything that I am experiencing since I've made this change. Of course, it wasn't really hard for me as I had always been semi-vegetarian. I definitely am feeling so much better & definitely loosing weight, my coughing/phlem problem is disappearing, etc. I am so pleased with how it is working for me. I have found some amazing recipes, so I definitely do not feel deprived in any way. Tonight, I am taking a refreshing frozen dessert to Relief Society meeting tonight...a wonderful raw fresh strawberry granita...very simply made by pureeing fresh sliced strawberries & combining it with water, lemon juice & agave syrup, then freezing. To serve, use a fork to shred into icy, tendrils, place into dish & immediately serve. Can add some minced fresh mint leaves or to make it an even more decadent treat, drizzle organic aged balsalmic vinegar over top! Last night I had raw 'pasta' with marinara sauce...the 'pasta' was made out of zucchini, juliened into spaghetti strands & the marinara sauce was made from pureeing roma tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, sea salt, agave syrup & olive oil together. I was so surprised that it tasted just like the regular pasta! Good stuff!
  23. That was us too, Avrham. My children were raise predominately semi-vegetarian & pretty much follow the same practice, even with their own children. My youngest daughter (24 yrs old) has been vegetarian for the last 6 yrs & became vegan about 2 yrs ago. She is interested in my raw food recipes & will be incorporating them into her diet, too. I wish the mainstream media would report the devastating effects that processed foods have caused. I have been in medicine for 30 yrs (Cardiology) & have seen what the so called American diet has done to people. What I can definitely state with regards to a raw foods diet, is that I feel so much better. There has been a big decrease in the excess phlem & coughing that I used to have (caused by dairy & wheat products) and my energy level keeps increasing. I don't feel deprived of anything as the recipes are delicious, can even make raw food crepes with a decedant vanilla non-dairy cream filling with fresh fruit!! Wonderful!
  24. Sure Pam, no problem..I'll list a few that I was truly impressed with: Strawberry Oat Bars (great for breakfast or a snack) 1 1/2 C pitted dates 1/4 C raw macadamia nuts 2 Tbsp old-fasioned rolled oats pinch of sea salt 1 C strawberries, hulled & thinly sliced Pulse dates, nuts, oats & salt in a food processor until combined. Press the mixture into a 9 x 5 loaf pan. Mash half of the strawberries & spread on top of the mixture. Top with remaining sliced strawberries. Slice into rectangles & serve. Tropical Spring Rolls 1 head of tender lettuce such as Boston, leaves separated 1 mango, peeled & thinly sliced 1 avocado, thinly sliced 1 red bell pepper, seeded & julienned 1/2 C fresh cilanto Sea Salt (preferably Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, available at Trader Joe's) Lime wedges Stack two lettuce leaves and top with some mango, avocado, red pepper & cilantro. Season with a light sprinkle of sea salt & a squeeze of lime. Roll up like a burrito, cut in half, then serve. These were incredible, as well as, very refreshing! I made them for my lunch for work & they held up extremely well. Now this next one will be very strange sounding, but believe me you will be blown away by it!! The taste is unbelievable, decadent & very low in calories not to mention no white sugar, no dairy, no wheat! I was skeptical at first, but when I took that first bite...I was in chocolate heaven! Chocolate Pudding 3 ripe avocados (yes, I did say avocado) 6 Tbsp cocoa powder (preferably organic, can get it at Trader Joe's or Sprouts) 1/4 C raw honey (I used 1/4C organic coconut syrup instead) 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (preferably non-alcohol, to preserve the chocolate flavors) pinch of sea salt Puree avocados, cocoa powder, honey, & vanilla in a food processor until smooth. Refrigerate, if desired. Sprinkle lightly with the sea salt right before serving. The sea salt enchances the chocolate taste! Now a little bit about organic coconut syrup...I recently discovered this delectable ingredient & found out how extremely nutricious it is. It has the lowest glycemic index compared to other sweeteners - it helps in balancing blood glucose and insulin levels, highest in nutrients, vitamins and minerals, but the best part is it's taste which kind of similar to a buttery caramel! It works well with just about any recipe & I also use it in my smoothies instead of agave syrup. And speaking of smoothies...here's a taste treat: Strawberry Blast Shake 2 med or 3 small bananas, fully ripened 1 C strawberries (frozen strawberries can be used for a frostier shake) 2 Tbsp raw cashew or almond butter (I like the cashew butter better) 1 Tbsp organic coconut syrup (can also use organic agave syrup) 1 1/2 C Almond Milk (I use the Vanilla Almond Milk, can be found at Trader Joe's, Almond Milk is so much better than Soy Milk) Place ripe bananas in bottom of blender, followed by the strawberries, cashew butter, coconut syrup & then the Almond Milk. Blend to desired thickness (if you want thicker, add a couple of ice cubes) & then enjoy! Now I've made myself hungry!!
