  1. I agree with just a guy. I actually know someone that is now married, hold a temple recommend and has kids. He is NOT a perv. But he is a registered sex offender. He knows it's from a mistake. He takes responsibility for it. I am tired of people not taking responsibility for the things they do. You should do what is right to do what is right, not to try to get out of being in trouble. (Or for whatever other reason)
  2. Porn is not illegal, child porn is.
  3. This is a reply to the OP. I would seriously consider turning in your son. Tough love is "tough." I just think that it is a good idea so that you, as the parent won't be in any trouble. Also, it will wake up you son more than anything else. Threats mean nothing to some people. He hasn't stopped, you warned. Time for some action. I don't know the laws, but I know that if I would have known about what was going on in my house, with my ex, when I was still married to him, I would have been arrested. (This was drug related not sex related) My point is if you have knowledge of illegal things, sometimes you can be arrested for not acting on it. I know this is true in many states with child abuse as once I HAD to report a neighbor something, just to be safe. I reported it as possible and that the child told me such and such. From there they investigated. I was told, had I not reported, I could have been in big trouble. I have made it very clear to my own children that if they do anything illegal I will turn them in, to protect my other children. They all know this. You child knows better, you warned him how serious things can be, now you need to act. That's my opinion. I totally understand if you don't take it, since it is a really, really hard thing to do, our job as a parent is to protect our children, I just think in a round about way, turning them in might be a form of protecting them before things get worse.

  5. The church does not teach of this. It would be possible that he is very sensitive to other's feelings. I don't know what to call "psychic" phenomenons, but I know people do just "know" things. Like my sister, growing up when we would go on a family road trip, she would say something like there is a blue house around the corner with a white bird bath that has a chip on the side and a big window and five stairs on the front of the house. She would say this when we had never been to the city before and she was ALWAYS spot on. Sometimes she would say something like a lady is going to come out and check the mail when we drive or walk by. just can't explain it.
  6. THis has got to be one of the best posts I have seen on here. I feel terrible about your situation and I am so sorry you have to do this. I feel for your wife and family. The reason this is great is because so many times we see posts where people make big mistakes and just try to see if they can get away with it and not have to see the bishop or whatever. They want to see what they have to do or say to get the least punishment. I know you are hurting, but you are taking real responsibility for what you have done, it's refreshing to see. I wish I had advice, I don't. My ex is in jail... Bt I don't know much about it. I wish you and your family all the best with this very difficult road. My prayers are with you.
  7. This has been known to happen at my house, too...
  8. Why does the email that goes to the CEO have the spelling error? (Oops, is that just me? I spell everything wrong.) :)
  9. Why, when you find the perfect gift to give, is it always the last one in stock and the packaging is damaged, so it looked used?
  10. Why do people stop by your house only on the days where you just didn't have enough energy to pick up the living room?
  11. Why do your kids get sick when yo had scheduled a personal day to catch up with your own personal chores / reading....and because you needed a break?
  12. Why does your boss walk by when you are on Facebook? Even tho you had been working for 6 hours without a break?
  13. Why does someone in the office always bring donuts when that isthe day you were going to start your diet?
  14. Why do church and school events always happen on the same night?
  15. Why don't kids ever tell you when they are taking the last roll of TP?
  16. Why do babies always get messy diapers at church...not before....not after....
  17. I only went silent because I needed to take care of my children. I am a very busy person, except when at work....well,today anyways I wasn't busy, but most of the time I am.
  18. Oh and now words are being put in my mouth.
  19. I was, but you just did.... I am still waiting to pull apart my imperfect way of expressing my opinion. Even though most people, get the general idea of what I was getting at, I think others need it to be eloquently written and efficient as well. That just isn't going to happen, since I don't write very well as anyone on here knows. But I think my idea get across, and people that pick them apart are looking to pick rather than look at what I was trying to say. Sorry, but I am dyslexic, that is just how I am.
  20. Still waiting for someone to argue with me again.
  21. I gave up when it happened to me...my guess is that what your landlord is hoping you do.
  22. Then why in heaven's name did everyone argue every little thing about how people just couldn't do it? Holy Cow?!?!?! I said that not the uneducated couldn't do it and people say no anyone can do it, everything is available...no, no it's not, and the number of people that can't do it, right now, is huge! Millions! Man, making a very simple point is exasperating! I know you are still going to disagree with what i said, but the point is you get my point! Why you argue with an opinion is silly.
  23. Wow......sure it works for many, but it just can't for everyone. Not even close.....there are millions that just couldn't do it.
  24. Museums are not free. Libraries are not always withing walking distance, and not everyone has a car. An uneducated person, doesn't know how to get to these resources. I know these things because I deal with them at work. I have people coming in with issues all the time. We try to get word about "resources" to people all the time, but the message just doesn't get there. Sure, the average person knows how to borrow free books at the library, but the uneducated, really uneducated person doesn't. Even with public school those lower class people don't know how to utilize all the resources out there. That number of people is bigger than yo think. Perhaps not in your neighborhood, but they are there. Like I said I realize public school isn't working either, I just think there would need to be massive information sharing, somehow. We would need to give some sort of public education to parents for them to learn how to take advantage of such things. I worked in a Montessori school, certainly the people I see come into my office would not know how to cultivate that type of learning without being taught, first how to do that. Like I said, home schooling sounds great, it is just not possible, tight now. Changes need made, first.
  25. See I love the idea of homeschooling too. I am just saying it is not feasible for most. I also had another thought.... Homeschooling, if forced, would really keep the undereducated and poor at status quo. If they don't have the means to have internet or other advantages, they don't learn as much, they don't move up in the "class" system. Yes, our country, tho not as bad as many still have a class system. It would simply make it much harder if not impossible for a child of an uneducated person with out any other resources to get the education they are capable of receiving. DOn't get me wrong, in no way do I think the current education system is the answer, but I think it is currently better than the uneducated teaching uneducated. It was stated in previous posts that people were responsible, back in the days, of educating their our, with by a nanny or getting groups or whatever. Well back in those days, the poor stayed poor generation after generation. Yes, that happens more than we want, even today, but it is more feasible to get out of that rut now than it was back then.
