  1. Neither the Lutherans or the Catholic took much of a stand in Germany. Perhaps my statement that religions cause war was inaccurate. I was standing outside the church the other day and a man said that we should just go kill all them (name unspecified). I confronted him, but he ignored me. I don't go to church to hear that kind of talk. I got some wise council from a Sister.
  2. Let me think about that. Educate me, please?
  3. The usual problem with God/Physics is that men try to define things not spoken of. I am quite sure that in the book of Ezekiel, there was a highly advanced vehicle used. None of us know why. I think that most of our issue with Heavenly Father vs science is that we do not need to know, he's letting us find out for ourselves, and trying to explain a black hole to us is like the father of a household trying to explain the vacume cleaner to a 2 year old. If you read Dawkins, "The God Delusion", it falls apart prety readily. He is correct that most war is driven by religious ideas, but his book really falls apart in the 5th Chapter. The poor man was raised in Kenya in WWII and his father was military and extremely overbearing, but very religious.
  4. You should only do what you are comfortable with.
  5. We used to Elk Hunt in remote country, and while I never had the need to use it, everyone in the camp carried a pistol or had a rifle near. I once heard of a bull elk walking right through camp. The wife shot the elk and when the husband came home, having been skunked, she had it ready to hang. :) There was always talk of bears and big cats, though I do not know if it was the liquor talking or not. This is not the same world I grew up in. I can't understand people being anti gun.
  6. There are ways of treating this without killing them. We scream about these things but do not take meaningful, humane action. Sigh.
  7. Those who wear garments, let them wear them in peace and humility. Those who don't, who is your judge?
  8. You are forgiven. :) Most people don't go back and check. Thank you.
  9. Is that what you think? I interpreted your post the other way. Just saying.
  10. I think it was totally uncool for anyone to say that "your only problem is your wounded pride". My Sister nearly went crazy teaching her first year. Twice I came home and she would be piteously weeping, and I felt helpless. This year, she had the Summer off and got right to it when school started. Most of us wonder if we have the right stuff when we start something new. May Heavenly Father bless you.
  11. Texas, and Oregon are two states where I know it is illegal to allow even the outline of a gun to show. Aurora, Colorado had a law making it illegal to carry, but the law was thrown out. There is so much misinformation on the subject. One of my workmates insisted that hand guns had to be registered the other day, and that is not true.
  12. To me, hate speech is anything about race, religion or nationality. Though I won't usually let a challenge about Mormonism pass. So, far Heavenly Father has helped it stay away from an argument and simply be an informative conversation. Polygamy, Jesus Christ, and being like Heavenly Father seem to be the most frequent areas I encounter. It is best not to be defensive about these things. And if they get too heated, it is best to drop it.
  13. A concealed weapons permit means just that. If you allow people to know you are armed, you are breaking the law. But, carrying at a family function? I think that is egocentric and paranoid. Just sayin'. I went to a Movie last night, alone, and did not get home until 1:00 AM. The weapon took the night off and stayed home. Awareness and location is much better defense.
  14. Some people who are or want to be in government, are prepared to use federal troops on US citizens. There is precident for it. Federal troops were used against US citizens in several instances in our past history. I expected to see them used against the Occupy movement. Knowing some of the tactical weaponry, I agree that conflicts would be one sided if all the troops followed orders. The answers are not clear to me. I just do my job. Listening to the rhetoric of some around me, the use of Federal troops against Muslims here would not surprise me. This discussion is getting a bit dark for me, so I am wit0hdrawing.
  15. I would not say that killing is the best part of my day.
  16. I think it is cute that those who seem most willing to advocate war and violence, have never participated in either. I feel better off to get it done without.
  17. I get scammed constantly, so maybe I should take the class. :) No wonder I get ignored at the airport.
  18. I might sound fatalistic but I am not. I just see everything that I know about the LDS as true and without question. If it is not, then it won't matter. But, of course it is, so there is no need to worry.
  19. They should be unless they get your reflection off the kitty's eyeball or something equally bizarre. :)
  20. I get a lot of criticism because I stopped doing facebook, and do not plan to go back. I think it is evil because they let their profit generator overpower their sense of morality, as if they had one. Sometimes people think that I am some sort of radical fundamentalistic Mormon, but I just think that putting too much out there about yourself will lead to pain. Everyone from marketers, bankers, car companies and credit rating companies is gleaning your little disclosures.
  21. The high need for order folks sometimes get out of control to those of us that don't think very deeply. Religion is pretty simple to me; do good, be good. That Heavenly Father exists is just so obvious to me. I used to have an issue with Jesus Christ's crucifiction, having been all over the world, but Heavenly Father brought things into my life to convince me. No one in my past lived any religion, and their all gone.
  22. Lengthy doctrines are pretty much meaningless to me. I obey D&C 89, and that is about it. It seems to me that chastising a woman in church for too much make up is ridiculous. I don't wear any, and don't plan to. It's pointless to have a relationship with a man. What I do pretty much takes up my life, but I like to go to church to thank Heavenly Father for keeping me alive. Jesus Christ pretty much said it all; love Heavenly Father, love one another.
